Hi friends,

I landed on Tuesday (Feb. 05) and just wanted to share my experience!

Since I was already in Canada as a visitor and we don't live far from the border, we (my Canadian husband = sponsor) made a day trip to the USA. Told the US border officer that I will be landing in Canada as a PR when we're coming back in the evening.

When we arrived back at the border that evening, we told the Canadian border officer that I will be landing as a PR, he asked if I had my documents (I came prepared with a lot of documents, just in case ) and if I brought goods with me or if there were goods following, and told us to park and go into the building. Since it was a Tuesday evening, 8:30 pm, it was completely empty in there. I gave the immigration officer my passport, COPR and he also wanted my previous and current visitor records. (He asked if I wanted a copy of the visitor records and my Working Holiday Visa that was still attached to my passport since he would have to keep those documents.) He asked if the information on the COPR is correct and asked us to sit down and wait a few minutes. He stamped my passport and attached the COPR (after I signed it) to my passport. He also asked my husband if he is my sponsor. He then told me about getting my SIN and applying for my health card and reminded my husband about the undertaking/sponsorship. And just like that, he handed me my passport and we were done!! I think the whole process took less than 10 minutes.

The landing was done at Rainbow Bridge (Niagara Falls).

Yesterday I went to get my SIN and apply for my health card, and since it was early morning it took no time at all! (SIN 5 min and OHIP 10 min). Also, some banks (Scotiabank for example) have newcomer programs that will give you a bank account free of fees for one year and a credit card as well.

Seriously.. my heart skipped a beat or two before realizing that this is just an automated reply telling me to hold my feet still for at least 28 work days.

That's just a automatically reply that says you can send the next email after 28 days. They will reply but I'm not sure when. When I sent first time they replied me after 3 weeks. The next time they replied for 3 days. This Monday I sent an email and I still wait for reply.
