I received a reply to an e-mail to the CIC regarding my channeler prints. No dice (they said no). Seeing as how I've already wasted $48 on digital finger prints, I'm just going to go to the local police station. It's $50, but I can go after work tomorrow and have my card out in the mail to the FBI on Saturday.
I meant that the company did the prints, and I mailed the application to the required FBI address as stated by CIC. I did not use a channeler, The girl made me "dirty" fingerprints on the FBI standard card, and I mailed them. I got the report back about 9 weeks later, if I remember correctly.

hello everyone,
I mailed my application in June. The only email I got from CIC on August 27. It didn't say where my case is now. Is that normal? Thanks a lot.

The email is:
This refers to the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on
behalf of xxx and family (if applicable).

You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent
Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing.
Should you need to submit additional information or make any further enquiries regarding the Application
for Permanent Residence for your relative(s), you may contact the visa office by e-mail, fax, or in writing
as follows:

This visa office was selected based on your relative’s home address and the requirements of the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

If you received this communication via email, please note that another copy will not be mailed to you.

Sponsorship was approved, forwarded to VO to look at applicant(s). You should be able to check status online (eCas wasn't all that helpful when I used it) but the contact method provided in the application will be used to forward communication when required, for example, PPR was e-mailed.

Yes. You generally won't hear from CIC unless they need something. So for most outland applications the sequence is something like:

- Submit application to CPC-M
- Sponsor approval letter (or e-mail)
- Passport Request for applicant (letter or e-mail)
- Send passport (or copies) to VO
- Passport (if required) + COPR returned

Thus, that sponsor approval letter could be the last thing you receive until you get the PPR.

If you hear from them for anything else, it generally means that the process is going to be slower than ideal, because they need something they don't have.

I also emailed them yesterday to check the status of my app and to see if they received my CSQ per their request a couple weeks ago. I got a response today that was stated:

Good day,
You would have to verify with us in a few weeks. For the moment, we are working on correspondence received end of September.
Warm regards,
Case Processing Pilot - Ottawa
Hey Proco, when you contacted CPP-O they told you that they're working on cases recieved at the endo of September (am I correct in interpreting what you have written)?

What is the process if My US husband would come up to ontario while we wait for the PPR to arrive? I am canadian citizen living with him in the US right now, but have a great job oppertunity in ontario that I dont want to miss, but also don't want to leave him.
I know he can't work yet, but would be we able to bring all our stuff with us? Would he have to go back to the US while the PPR is going through?

US citizens are allowed to stay 6 months for a visit. As long as he states he is visiting, and not moving, it will not be a problem. I have been "visiting" for over a year while we wait for ppr. Just make sure that if it is longer than 6 months before he lands, that he applies for an extension to be able to stay legally.

I knew it was only a 6 month visit, I am wondering more about when the ppr comes, we can change the address of where the visa gets sent to, but How does the entering into Canada work if he is already in Ontario. does he just have to go to the boarder? Or does he have to go back to the US for a period of time to reenter?

He can schedule to land inland (at a CIC office by appointment) or he can go to the border, get his passport stamped on the US side, and then turn around and enter on the Canadian side. No minimum time in the US required.

We got our stage 1 AOR yesterday. HALLELUIAH!

We're in the Sept 2012 thread. Seems like those who got their AOR got their stage 1 approval very shortly. Keeping our fingers crossed!

2 Questions.

1) At some point I need to go back to the States to get the rest of my things. I was told by a Canadian Border Guard in the Nexus office that I'd need a "number when you file" before I could cross with all my things. With the UCI and Application number in this email, can I use those to get back into Canada?

2) Will leaving re-set my visitor extension if I have proof we're applying for PR? I applied for my extension 2 weeks ago...the original expires the end of November.

I really don't know how much if anything they are going to let you bring, sponsorship approval is far from visa being issued and nothing is guaranteed until they issue the visa. the extension was a waste of money, as soon as you leave your time restarts but, you do have the sponsorship approval letter so that should atleast help you get back into Canada.

As I understand what you have said, you, the Canadian citizen are re-establishing residency. This pertains only to the citizen. Then I believe you are able to move back to Canada and I think there is a time frame with which you can bring items duty free for returning citizens. My husband the Canadian citizen has moved and made his residency Canada. We missed the opportunity to import duty free items when we re-established residency. I am not sure of the exact rules as I write, but others may have more specific info. Yourr husband would always be a visitor, until he receives his status. You do not have to both be citizens or RA to move back. A Canadian citizen can move back any time. If you do don't miss duty free opportunity. Wiser folks on this forum do you concur?

The regulations regarding what can be brought back duty-free are set by Canada Border Services Agency, and info may be found in their brochure, "Moving Back to Canada," at their website (I cannot post links-- :'() Hope that helps!
