So after the Buffalo office closed, we haven't had a spreadsheet tracking US outland files only anymore (except for the LA thread). Would anyone be interested in reviving the Buffalo spreadsheet or making a CPP-O spreadsheet?

I think it'd be useful, especially because the Ottawa timelines are non-existent.

(and I'm not volunteering to do it because I've already taken on October 2012 :p)
:p you should leave the spreadsheet open for editing while you are working on the Ottawa spreadsheet or have somebody else take it over for you

I'd definitely be interested in having a spreadsheet like this on the go.

Call me a societal leech, but I sure as hell don't want to maintain it myself though! :D

Hello Everyone, my application was received on 10/27/2011 but status still shows as following in e-cas.

We received your application for permanent residence on October 27, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

Should I be concerned that it's going to be almost a year and still does not show status as "in process" even though cases from Jan - May of 2012 have been approved and processed. I am a Naturalized U.S. Citizen living in California and I was born in India and my wife is a Canadian citizen. CIC has stated on numerous emails that they don't need anything from us but that they have a large number of files that they are working thru. Any advice or suggestions, would be very much appreciated. Our case originally was sent to buffalo before it was closed and sent to Ottawa.

Same deal here. I sent off for my GCMS notes, because I wanted to know what was going on. It still says "Application Recieved" and "Medical Results have been received". My files was transferred to Seattle after Buffalo closed, and based on my GCMS notes, everything is complete, all of the checks are done. So I am assuming somebody stuck my file under a desk leg to keep it stable, and that is the reason I have not received ppr yet. Oh well...

Hi, wow you applied in March of 2011 ? That is really ridiculous. I hope that your's get's approved soon and considering it is at a visa office that should hopefully happen soon. After weeks of nagging the CIC help desk they sent the following email to me on 10/17/2012.

Thank you for your enquiry. I verified your application and the file was transferred to
this office following the closure of Buffalo. We ask for your understanding that we are
now working through a large number of files which have been transferred at the same
time.

You should hear from an agent within the next two months.

I'd be contacting my local MP... that's ridiculous!

No I am the applicant.

While I am happy for the PPR, I am also annoyed with them rejecting the channeller FBI Cert. I am most mad at myself, though, because for the past few weeks, I thought it might be a good idea to get a backup FBI cert in case this was rejected. however, I assumed it would be fine, so I didn't. Now, I have to wait 4-6 more weeks to send off for my visa. At least the end is in definite site.

Is there any data yet on how long Ottawa takes to send you a visa back after you submit your PP?

Again, I advise everyone going through Ottawa to send an email, my case was submitted 4/23.

This worked for me too. I basically emailed CPP-O telling them that I was trying to make Christmas plans (this is true) and asked for an update because I didn't want to miss anything while I was away. I received the passport request (they already have our FBI, meidcals, etc) and it was received by them yesterday. I have NO idea what turn around time is like to get the COPR.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Have you sent a case-specific inquiry? I've had good luck getting Seattle to answer.

The first one I sent said it is too early (back in July), and to wait 3 months before contacting them again. I just sent off another one on Monday, waiting to hear back.

I also emailed them yesterday to check the status of my app and to see if they received my CSQ per their request a couple weeks ago. I got a response today that was stated:

Good day,
You would have to verify with us in a few weeks. For the moment, we are working on correspondence received end of September.
Warm regards,
Case Processing Pilot - Ottawa

I went through a channeller as well...lame. I guess I'll have to make an appointment to get my fingerprints done locally. Apparently ONLY the sheriffs office in Buffalo can do that, even though they have at least five police departments for the 5 districts.

Are there any private companies that offer fingerprinting in your area? I used a company that offered mobile fingerprinting service, it cost me $25, but it was nice because the rep met me at my office, so I didn't have to take time off work to get it done.

I received a reply to an e-mail to the CIC regarding my channeler prints. No dice (they said no). Seeing as how I've already wasted $48 on digital finger prints, I'm just going to go to the local police station. It's $50, but I can go after work tomorrow and have my card out in the mail to the FBI on Saturday.

Does anyone (Computergeek?) know if it's inadvisable to buy a one-way ticket airline ticket to the US? I'm planning on flying to California and then driving back with my spouse in early 2013 so he can 'visit' me until we're through the process. I'm a Canadian and I have a Nexus pass so I'm not typically questioned at all at the airport. I just wonder if they'll flag me because I don't have a return ticket, but I am coming back to Canada!

I use one way tickets on a regular basis. Even if you were questioned on it, the "driving back with my spouse" answer is perfectly reasonable. I've never been scrutinized flying in or out of Canada or the US (and I have a Nexus card as well.)

If you are worried about this possibility, you could always purchase a refundable one-way return ticket and then when you don't use it, return it for a refund. Just pick one without a cancellation fee.
