Hoping someone can help with this scenario..my husband should have his COPR in the next few weeks (God willin' and the crick don' rise)
- (we live close to the border) he will need to make frequent (almost weekly) trips back to the US for business and family reasons for the couple of months
- he will import his car when he lands
- it appears his PR card will take a couple of months
- it appears he can't get a BC Driver's License without PR card
So...questions!
1. with a car registered in Canada, will there be problems (either way) crossing the border with a Canadian registered car and no PR card (only the copy of COPR) and/or with a BC registered car and a WA State Driver's Licence?
2. is it possible to list the car as "goods to follow" to import later but still drive it back and forth after he lands? (I think not, but it's worth asking, right?)
2. will there be problems making frequent trips back and forth with only the COPR? (I think I recall that it is only problematic if you are flying in and out...then the airlines want to see a PR card.)
We thought about delaying the actual landing until he doesn't need to make the frequent trips (his COPR expiry should be Nov, a year from when his medicals were done), but he has part-time work here waiting for him, so he will need to land asap to get his SIN to start work.
It is a huge relief to have DM, but now there is this whole new set of puzzle pieces to sort out
Thanks in advance if anyone has experience with this!
