Barring a court order, CIC will not send a PR card outside Canada.lawgrrl said:One note: do check ECAS after landing to be sure CIC has your correct address. They had the current physical address we gave when landing, but had the old US address for mailing! Who knows what would have happened had the card been sent to Portland OR, esp. since the envelope is marked "DO NOT FORWARD"!
You have to provide the B4/B4A forms at the time of landing. That lists what it is that the settler will be bringing into Canada with them. You can bring the actual goods later ("goods to follow").PhBee said:Anyway! Quick question for those of you that have already landed, etc - you/your American spouse is able to land, but not move to Canada/transfer their goods until later, yes? Meaning, say he gets his COPR by March or something, but isn't ready to move up until late-May; we can do the landing process (as we only have a certain amount of time to do that), go back to the US and then he can move and do all of the importing paperwork later in May or June?
Thanks! That makes sense, much appreciated!computergeek said:You have to provide the B4/B4A forms at the time of landing. That lists what it is that the settler will be bringing into Canada with them. You can bring the actual goods later ("goods to follow").
You should be able to access ECAS once you have your 8-digit Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number. We got this number when we received the Sponsorship Approval letter.PhBee said:Congrats to everyone who has gotten their COPR/has landed/gotten their PR card - yaaaay! The hubbs (he's American, I'm Canadian) and I are now just starting our 'long wait', I just got back from the post office - application sent! I had a bit of an anxiety attack when I handed it over to be sent: what if it doesn't get there?! What if I forgot something?! (even though I checked it over 5 times or more before I sealed it up!). I'm sure you can all empathize Still, very glad that it's sent off and just in time too - I head back to Canada next Friday after a 3mo visit down here in the US. It's seriously going to suck having to do LD again, but, all worth it in the end
I'm not too worried about the wait, since his lease isn't up until May 2014 anyway. And, I need time to finish my PhD, save more $, find a FT job, etc. I know, saying 'I'm not worried about waiting' will probably mean I'm going be some special case where it will take forever! Hopefully not! Mostly just trying to look on the 'bright side' of things. We're very lucky that we're only about 6hrs away from each other by car. 19 on the bus! Which, I take. A lot.

ETA (second question): at what point will I be able to access ecas? Will I need the sponsorship approval notification, or, will I be able to log-in before that with another type of information?
Thanks everyone! I have a feeling I'll be around here more now that the application is sent in. Fingers crossed that USPS and CP don't muck it up and it gets to Mississauga!
This is true, but don't expect much from ECAS. It is notorious for not updating. I got my PPR in March and mine still reads "application received."Canuck20 said:You should be able to access ECAS once you have your 8-digit Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number. Hmmm! Yes, I suppose there is that too, and I've read that a number of folks have had that experience. I won't get my hopes up about ecas being useful, but I suppose an 'application received' would be nice.jwa007 said:This is true, but don't expect much from ECAS. It is notorious for not updating. Ours came as an email.PhBee said:Thanks, Canuck20! Did you only receive an email, or did you get a hardcopy letter too?

After the PPR does the rest of the paper work come in the form of email as well, just trying to understand a little better on the next stepsCanuck20 said:Ours came as an email.
