Thanks Parker! I've got ppr already but just wondering if I will get a nice surprise in the mail with copr if they send out an email saying its coming.
writetosfa--We heard nothing. Did not get PPR (CIC used copy of my passport submitted with app). CIC did ask for additional info to support app. My COPR showed up about a month later, mailed from the LA Visa Office via certified mail, return receipt requested. Strange and mysterious the CIC be , young Jedi immigrant!

Thanks lawgrrl! So you only waited about a month from sending in the additional requested documents to receiving the COPR? They requested proof of sponsor funds and residency with the PPR on June 12th, 2013 - so we are waiting patiently for COPR now. Hoping it comes in soon as my hubby's work permit has expired, we are waiting on lmo and he is here on implied status until lmo comes back. He hasn't been able to go to the US to see family or check on the house he has there for 2 months now, so we're pretty anxious! :)

Hoping someone can help with this scenario..my husband should have his COPR in the next few weeks (God willin' and the crick don' rise)
- (we live close to the border) he will need to make frequent (almost weekly) trips back to the US for business and family reasons for the couple of months
- he will import his car when he lands
- it appears his PR card will take a couple of months
- it appears he can't get a BC Driver's License without PR card

So...questions!

1. with a car registered in Canada, will there be problems (either way) crossing the border with a Canadian registered car and no PR card (only the copy of COPR) and/or with a BC registered car and a WA State Driver's Licence?
2. is it possible to list the car as "goods to follow" to import later but still drive it back and forth after he lands? (I think not, but it's worth asking, right?)
2. will there be problems making frequent trips back and forth with only the COPR? (I think I recall that it is only problematic if you are flying in and out...then the airlines want to see a PR card.)

We thought about delaying the actual landing until he doesn't need to make the frequent trips (his COPR expiry should be Nov, a year from when his medicals were done), but he has part-time work here waiting for him, so he will need to land asap to get his SIN to start work.

It is a huge relief to have DM, but now there is this whole new set of puzzle pieces to sort out :D

Thanks in advance if anyone has experience with this!

Nothing here raises an issue. The US doesn't care if a US licensed driver takes a Canadian car into the US (ah but the reverse doesn't work...)

The COPR copy is enough. CBSA can confirm it in the computer if they really want to do so.

Yes, but there is a time limit here - check with CBSA. What he can't do is drive a US plate car into Canada with a Canadian licence... that won't fly.

It may be annoying if they insist on sending him to secondary. But ENF 4 says that it shouldn't be a problem.

Hello folks! Some weeks ago I was checking in about FBI fingerprints (the 3rd party vs. where the heck to get ink prints), I was able to track down a local place that did the ink prints. Whew! Anyway, on the 24th the FBI charged my husbands credit card with the processing fee. For those who have had this done, about how long after seeing the charge did you get the response back from the FBI?
Many thanks!

I am not part of this particular section of the forums, however, I also had to do my fingerprints from the FBI. I waited what seemed like FOREVER for the charge to show up on my credit card but they didn't charge it until they had actually started/completed my file and I received my information within a week or week and a half after that. That was my experience with them.

Thank you for your response! That was what I was thinking, that they wouldn't charge the card until they had processed the information or were about to. And yeah, it does seem like it took forever to see the charge finally come through. One of the few times where we were happy to see a charge! Hopefully it will be similar to your experience and we'll have his documents in by this coming Friday.
Thanks again!

My experience was identical. I could see the authorization on my card the day they charged it (and the charge cleared two days later). Then the FBI letter showed up the following week (I'd given them a FedEx account number to use for its return, and that worked perfectly.)

We're all hanging out in Canada now, woo! Entry for me and the kids, hubby's visiting (but they issued him a 12mo visitor record).

I know this option isn't convenient for many of you, but arriving on the ferry rocked. There are 8 CBSA officers or so sent to handle the passengers landing, and they send any "complicated" cases to the building to wait. There were 2 of us, and I had like 6 people working on processing me (because when I was done, everyone got to go home). 20 minutes to get kids, hubs, car, cat, personal, & business goods in (I went back today to meet the moving truck to bring in my "following" goods). I had all the paperwork ready, which I think started things off right, but they were friendly, fast, and knew their stuff. Very painless.

Excellent! Thank you very much :) We didn't include a FedEx envelope or anything (that would have been a good idea!), but hopefully we'll get it by the end of this week or early next week so we can get the application sent off before I go back to Canada.
Not looking forward to the cost, but sure as heck looking forward to getting this application done and sent off! And, well, then the waiting. :o

If they requested originals, then give originals. If not, it's presumed to be a copy.

Can someone explain what this sentence mean please
"Your application is under revision. We will contact you if necessary."

Basically it means stop bothering us, we'll get to it when we get to it.

I've gotten the same thing twice... makes me want to throw my laptop out the window.

My thoughts exactly!
