It depends upon what they are requesting , for me they requested photocopy of passport . I emailed them and to be cautious I also faxed a copy to them.

Hope to hear something from them . But seeing " IvanP" -- it may take more than 60 days for COPR.

If you are from a visa exempt country they will ask for a photocopy of your passport to be emailed to them. If not then they will want you to send your passport to them or your visa office. Then they might or might not ask for other types of documents. Examples would be proof of Canadian residency, proof of income, police check etc.

Yes, for us, 102 days so far since PPR. PPR - 3/4/2013, docs received by Ottawa - 3/12/2013, docs logged into their computer system by our VO - 3/21/2013. And in the 85 days since the VO looked at the docs we sent while logging them in, nothing. The docs they wanted were more photos (they lost the first set), CSQs (they claimed never to have received them from Quebec, though MICC claims they send copies to the VO), more proof that I intended to reside in Canada (we didn't have much when we first applied since we expected the process to take close to a year, but since then we've sent emails about potential jobs, and then more recently, our signed lease), plus passport copies (several copies of which were included in our application).

Grumpy about this at the moment.

He's American, so he is visa exempt. Do they want the whole passport? Or just the first page? Even though we sent that in with the application?

Usually just the first page. If they want more, they'll ask for it. And yes, if they ask for a copy of your passport, even though you sent a copy with the application, you'll need to send it. I think they do it just because people lose passports or renew them or change names, and they want to make sure they have the most up-to-date passport. (That's my charitable answer.)

With my luck, the week after we arrive in Montreal...
But I guess at least flagpoling from Montreal wouldn't be that bad compared to flagpoling from somewhere in Nunavut.

I looked it up, it would actually be one of the border crossings in Maine.

When I used Google maps to look at the closest border crossing from the centre of Nunavut, it was Maine. I had expected it to be the Alaska Crossing (from Whitehorse) as well, but it was MUCH farther. It's a LONG trip. I even tried to figure out if the St. Pierre and Miquelon crossing was closer but it wasn't obvious to me.

And the closest crossing from Montreal is on the border with New York. I've never driven that route, though (I'm always coming up from New England, so I end up going through VT).

Yes Montreal would be closest to NY (I live across the river of Morrisburg) I'll never be able to get USA geography down haha.

That's ok, Americans aren't generally very good with geography either.

I remember the first time I saw this map - http://www.ritholtz.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/world-accordign-to-USA.jpg

It's not too far from the true American perspective.
