1. i carried those proofs as well which I already sent to them . you never know they say they cannot find it.. (happened with me i already sent my fbi report but the visa officer said she cannot locate it) so better to have a backup

2. good to carry album as well movie. 120 prints are enough . dont put the pictures in dvd as they dont have that much time to play it on.. physical proof which is visible is better.. i also took my album and wedding movie dvd. and loads of pictures of our casual trips.

3. whatever receipts, tickets you have take them all.. i highlighted them so that its easy to see my name and my spouse's.

4. just showing bank account names is fine. if its saving account then they know you cannot have that much money. they are concerned you have joint bank accnts and how long the account is for

5. no experience with rental cars in LA as its my hometown. never felt a need for one

6. stickies is good .. easy for you as you will be nervous if visa officer asks you to show something you can just read and give. (I had separate folders for everything and wrote on the front of the folders)

Goodluck for the interview
Thanks a lot Simb....

REQUEST FOR DOCUMENTS AND PASSPORT COPIES

Dear Xxxxxxxxxxx:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada as a member of the family class. We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. While an interview does not appear necessary at this time, we reserve the right to call you to an interview, should this become necessary at some future stage in processing.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE FINALIZED BY THE CASE PROCESSING PILOT – OTTAWA (“CPP-O”).

In order to continue processing your application, the following is required:

Ø COPY OR SCANNED IMAGE of your passport and passports of your accompanying family members, as noted below.

Please note:
All documents must be accompanied by English or French translations. When original documents are requested, notarised documents are not acceptable.

Passport Copies:
You are a citizen of a country that is exempted from obtaining a visa to visit Canada under Regulation 190 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. You are therefore required to send only a copy or scanned image of the photo page of your passport and of any pages indicating a validity extension or change to your personal information. You must submit these copies/scans for yourself and for all your accompanying family member(s).
DO NOT SEND YOUR ORIGINAL PASSPORT(S). We require copies of a VALID passport for yourself and every accompanying family member. Please note that permanent resident visas cannot be issued on Diplomatic, Official or Military passports.

Changes to your Family Composition:
· Have you married or divorced?
· Have you given birth or adopted a child?
· Do you intend to get married or divorced prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Do you intend to give birth or adopt a child prior to becoming a permanent resident?
· Has your sponsor withdrawn his or her sponsorship of your application?

Why are they asking the bottom questions though when we supplied all of that info in our application?? I don't get it.

if you got PPR Request, congrats. Email them a scanned copy of your passport & dependents too. Those questions are just a common template. Disregard it.

I respectfully disagree with this. If you answer yes to any of those questions, inform the visa office. Let THEM decide that a change is not material. If you fail to advise them and it does matter, then you end up in trouble in the future.

Computergeek is absolutely right - you're not required to submit/re-submit anything if there have been no changes, but if there HAVE been any of the enumerated changes, you must inform them.

I would only submit documents they've asked for, and unless there have been changes, just be grateful you've received a simple PPR and respond with a simple scan of your passport!

Hello folks,

Sorry for the potential re/double post, but thought I should pose my question to a more pertinent audience:

Husband and I are collecting all the things we need to get our application together. We seem to be stuck on the clearance letter issue, we submitted digital prints through an FBI approved third party and received a letter back from the state of PA dept. of family services that says 'the result of your FBI background check (x) no record exists'. The state and local police no longer do fingerprints/have the cards to send to the FBI. Husband seems to think there will be a follow up letter from the FBI, but if it there isn't: would the State letter (that makes reference to a Federal check) be enough? Anyone in the NEPA area know of any other options? Feeling a bit lost!!
Thanks very much!

I can tell you this much - third party FBI checks aren't any good for immigration purposes.

Your best bet is to google fingerprinting services. Take a print out of the FBI card with you, but a professional place should have them already.

We origionally went through Cogent, they do all the FBI checks for job applications and the like around here. I called CIC and the person I spoke with said 'should be ok', but I don't trust should.
Do I need special paper/card stock? I know the printout/application that you mean, but not sure if anything special needs to be done with it.
Thanks again!
