Urgent Response needed: Sponsorship for future Wife??

Hi All,

I have been advised to send my passport for visa issuance in regards to my Permanent Residence Application. I have couple of questions and would appreciate your help with it. I am in USA currently working on H-1B.

1) I am single and not married yet how and when can I sponsor my future wife?
2) I am planning to get married in next few months and then migrate to Canada from USA along with my spouse.

a) Can I get my visa stamped and then sponsor her once I am married and then move to Canada?
b) Can I request the consulate some more time for my visa stamping (3-4 months) till I get married and then submit her papers as well so we can move to Canada together? How much maximum time will the Canada consulate give me in this case?

1. If you marry before you "land" your visa is invalid.

At this point, I think it is better to go ahead and land. Once you are a PR you can get married and sponsor your future wife. But be prepared for another long process. At the moment, CIC is trying to speed up processing of applications from Outside Canada (which I assume applies to your future wife) to a year or less.

Hi,

If you are single and got visa you can go but it might take at least 1 year to sponsor your wife and you have to get ur PR i think and from that time may be one more year for your wife's application processing time.

If you got married and planning to go canada on the visa which you got when you are single then it's not valid and chances of refusing your Visa as well.

you have 2 options you can go to canada first and settle there and then get marry or else surrender your visa and tell them that u got married now you want to update your application i think this will take less time might be 6months as your wife application will be directly receiving by VO.

I am also in the same situation i too dont know about this at first and got married so now i am in the process of updating my spouse information.

A lot of people are in this situation. The best thing to do is land,get your PR and you can go back to marry your future wife. Nothing what so ever dictates how soon you can marry after receiving your PR.The only thing is that you might have to prove it is a real affair and not a marriage of convinience. Wishing everyone the best in the process. We will all be there!! ;D
