Urgent Query for Super Visa

Hello Dear Members,

My father got a super visa in 2020 and he is planning to come to Canada for the first time in Jan 2024 (he couldn't come earlier due to some personal reasons). His Indian passport and Super Visa are expiring in Dec 2025. I have the following questions:

1. When he enters on the Super Visa in Jan 2024, can he stay for 5 years or it will depend on the exit stamp the officer puts at the port of entry?
2. If he intends to stay in Canada for 3 years, can he stay in Canada while his Indian passport is expired?
3. Is it recommended to get the Indian passport renewed before travelling or it doesn't matter if he can get it renewed in Canada from the Indian High Commission?
4. Is there any complexity in getting the passport renewed while inside Canada through the Indian High Commission?
5. If he wants to stay for 5 years, will we need to buy upfront medical insurance for 5 years?

2) Yes, but can't he renew his passport in Canada?
5) You can, but you can also extend the insurance after the first year.

He should try to renew it before his passport expires. Typically if he has legal status in Canada he should be able to renew his passport. He must be able to secure supervisa insurance every year to be able to remain in addition to having a valid stay on a supervisa. To qualify and remain in Canada on a supervisa you must qualify and purchase supervisa insurance every year.
