I received approval and PPR request July 6th but the background and eligibility still says under review in GCkey portal (I applied through their). Curious if this is normal, spouse submitted passport on the 7th so expecting it back in a week or so.

Also just to add my info to the pool, applied for outland spouse application Nov 2022, last update was Medical passed May 29th 2023, applied for new TRV June 16th 2023. Spouse in Pakistan. Showed no ties to the country, referenced the family reunification program throughout the application making sure to name drop my boy the Honorable Sean Fraser. Made sure the honorable was always there lol. Received approval July 6th alongside PPR.
I have applied on the July 09 2023, did the same thing no ties referenced the new measures and dropped the name and his quote lets see what happens.

How much amount you think would be safe to have?
Honestly after researching a few hundred different answers from different threads as long as you have your pay stubs and statements showing income every week or two, employment letter etc I don't think you need a particularly large amount to show as your balance. People use the $1000 a week for trv as a guide but that's a ridiculous amount for 6 months. I've seen low as $5000 get approved, I showed $8000. I would think the average person can put together anything between 5-10k to show but again there's no decisive answer out there besides having all your documents together to show financial stability. It'll come down to the immigration officer.

I know, for a fact, that $5k is not enough for 6 months....at least not for the CIC officer and they have rejected a TRV application saying precisely that it was insufficient funds, even though sponsor had more than $100k bank - and statement was attached, salary was like pretty good as well. if I was applying for TRV tomorrow, based on this info, i'd not put $5k amount, atleast 8-10k.

Strange that sponsor's 100k wasn't enough... sounds more like a pretext. Was there any dependent or dependent of dependent? Or maybe the sponsor had some previous issues?

In my case, 2K in bank account, over 100K TFSA, bank account history last 6 months showing my salary, was enough.

I sent in everything I could for our TRV. Stated our intent was to stay here for 6 months while PR application gets approved. Gave a bank certificate of my account, the last 6 pay stubs (which also shows the ytd of my gross and net income), provided my work benefits (plus copy of benefits card showing both our names on it) showing my husband is covered for medical, dental, and insurances when he is here in Canada. I also help him financially as well and sent proof of it for him (last 6 months of bank statements shows my deposits sent and that he has $5k) and I of this too (showing my transactions to him).
