I guess its different tales for different folks. The CIO staff redirects files based on discretion not based on choice. What I wrote about being legally admitted and living in the country of residence is what I have been told by a cic immigration officer in Saskatoon in feb2012. Its not from my thoughts. Like I said there are policies but it's based on DISCRETION.

P.S It's rude to type in red.

Sorry for that type in red, it was just to point out what i want to say. Anyway, it's from official document just like what you have been told by cic officer, which means not my thoughts too. Furthermore, there is no any word or phrase for 'living' in cic website. Btw, i totally agree with discretion, but what i wanna know is what kinds of things affect on officer's discretion?

Hey toyeen, congrats on your AOR. Right on time within the 4weeks period. Am happy for you! More speed to your file!! About the vo thing, it is based on discretion of the cio staff and not what the applicant wants. But like I said before, One must select the visa office that serves their country of nationality or the country where you have been legally admitted and thus lived for at least one year.
For example, a visitor on a 6months visiting visa can apply and request their file to be proccess in Canada but it wouldn't. Depending on the class of application, some visa office have expertise on the documents submitted by the applicant more than others. It wouldn't make sense for someone on a wp or sp to send their application to their home country when they are in Canada. Unless the applicants gives an explanation as to why they want this done and the logic seems right by the CIO staff thats when the files can be transferred to their home country.
Also, I have a friend from a visa exempt country. He has a work permit and choose his home country as his vo and he got want he wanted. Another had just a wp in canada and choose their home country and it was sent to Ottawa directly. When you size up any source of information, look at the source site and the date it was posted and edited. Immigration rules changes every year so what applied in Jan 2011 wouldn't be thesame right now.
This link helps too.

Cool it guys....

I was wondering, now that i have applied for PR within canada and i'm already working on a work permit. I am planning to go back home for vacations. Now looking at my file that could be the peak time of my file being processed. Lets say if they request for passport when i'm not in Canada? Can i send it from Dubai to them and get it back?

And i don't understand one things why do they require passports?? Isn't PR a card type of thing that is used to travel in and out of canada? So what do they ask the passport for?

And i shall stay in dubai for almost 2 months, and return back to canada by end of feb. so i'm damn sure i will get the request by that time. Has someone faced this before?

Thanks,

And yea i'v read through the forums people have written visa issued? What kind of visa are they taking about? Isn't it supposed to be a PR?

Hi stone8198,

Initially they issue a PR visa on your passport, that's why they request for the passport. With that visa one should enter in to Canada and finish the landing formalities. Then they will send you the PR cards to the address you have provided at the time of landing. But, in your case you are already living in Canada... honestly don't know how it works. Good luck to you.

Thanks,
Sarayu.

How are mpnp family support PR applications evaluated by CIO?...is it points system?...just want to know how they go about it coz I'm still deciding if I should take the ielts or not...it was not required from me on my mpnp application but the cic website now implements ielts submission for PR even for PNPs...my work history is mixed with regards to skill set...my current job falls under skill level c but I have 2+ years experience of skill level b...help...

I am not sure about MPNP family stream, but as long as it's not related with job under NoC C or D, you don't have to have IELTS score for PR application.

In my opinion, the concept is only for strategic category.

Hello everyone...I sent my PR application (PNP-Ontario) to CIO on June 26 which was received on June 29. My credit card was charged on July 26, roughly after a month....Now waiting for AOR..

Just check with your bank first. Even if you filled it yourself it doesn't matter. Provided you filled and signed all forms and provided all documents required on the checklist then your good. I would send them a mail on the 4th of August to check on them. Hopefully you will get a response from your bank or CIO before then. If your fee has been cashed, your home free. It's either they send AOR WITH medical (usually for persons applying within Canada) or just AOR. Hang in there.

Hi friends,

My PR application was received at CIO, Nova Scotia on July 12, 2012 and I have no clue on my application as of now (it was actually re-submission along with requested documents). I have sent a cashier's check along with my application and as of last Friday (July 27, 2012) it was not encashed. My concern is that, my Alberta nomination is getting expired on Aug 28, 2012.

So, the question is, do I have to receive AOR (OR) is it fine if the check gets encashed before the nomination expires?

Please clarify me.

Thanks,
Sarayu.

Thanks for all the updates guys. Could you guys do each other a favor, please update your profile with the dates so it is easier for everyone to track the progress. Like how i have done it, under my name on the right it shows when i applied, when i got nominated, when was the application sent etc etc.

If you guys do that it will be easier

Regards,
