As per the Checklist, copy of passport/travel document of the principal applicant and each accompanying applicant has to be submitted.

Do we have to give copy of the full passport or only the bio-pages?

Do we have to submit copies of expired passports also?

It's better to send copies of entire current passports, why take chances, right?

I don't recall sending expired passports, so you don't have to.

Hi!
I have a couple of questions ,hope some of you could help!
I am thinking of sponsering my mother to Canada .....i am a stay at home ...which means i did not make any money for the last three years .but my husband is becoming my co-signer and we make more than the min income that you are suppose to reach as a family...do u guys think CiC will accept that?
They will accept.

My second questions : i didn use birth certificate as part of my application when my husband sponsered me .......becuose i coudn't find one ......but right now i can manage to reissue one from my country of birth ......but i am kinda scared if i put my self in trouple by not bringing it to CIC in first place ..as you now if you are sponsering parents you should have birth certificate to proof the relationship between two of you .
.....any advice plz..
.thanks in advance !
I hope your birth cert. matches with all the info you have on your passport & other PR docs. Then it shouldn't be a problem. CIC doesn't have time to bring forth your old application and find anomalies.

Hi all, I'm filling the Schedule A form and in question 7 - education - I don't have enough space to write the complete "name of Institution" and "Field of study"
Does anybody now if there is a way to change the font for these fields to fit the complete name, or is there another way to do it?

Thanks a lot!
There is a way, but I wouldn't recommend it. CIC forms are digitally protected, so you have to unlock it with an unlocking tool (you can Google them). Then you can change the font size or enable multiple lines in one box etc. with Acrobat Writer. I've tried it but never used in actual application as this may tamper the digital signature CIC has on each form although you are not sending the apps digitally. I just didn't want to take chances.

Someone else mentioned to add extra page, well, I didn't want to do that either. I made short form of well known words. For example, you can choose to type "U of Waterloo" or "Uni of Waterloo" instead of "University of Waterloo". For field of study, you can type "Electrical Eng" instead of "Electrical Engineering" in order to fit it in the box.

Additional questions:
1. About the Financial Evaluation form, this the first time that my sister and her husband (co-signer) will sponsor someone or our parents. Does that mean we should indicate N/A in questions 10-12 and only put their daughters name on question 13 of the form?
Right.

2. On the same form, question 15 refers to the 2012-2014 employment history or 2013-2015? and where can I get the 'Gross Income/Benefits for the period' figures? When filling out the date, I should start January 1, 2012/2013?
We made a big fuss about it last year. In fact, I called CIC few times to clarify. Clearly, the heading says "Income for last 3 taxation years" which means 2012-2014; but the word "Present" in first column confuses you. So, I broke it down to 3 rows, each representing a year which corresponds to my income shown in my NOA line 150. In your case:
From To Employer Address Phone Gross Income Family Size
2014-01-01 Present xx 123 123 2014 NOA Line 150 5
2013-01-01 2013-12-31 xx 123 123 2013 NOA Line 150 5
2012-01-01 2012-12-31 xx 123 123 2012 NOA Line 150 5

3. The 'family size' on question 15 refers only to the sponsor's family?
The full family meaning Sponsor's family + Parents + Dep (for example, it's 5 for above table).

Rossei, thank you!

1. With this in mind, my brother in law (co-signer) have two jobs from 2012-2014 tax years. Is the below table correct or how can I best put it?

From To Employer Address Phone Gross Income Family Size
2014-01-01 Present Job1 Employer XX 1234 2014 NOA Line 150 7
2014-01-01 Present Job2 Employer XX 1234 2014 NOA Line 150 7
2013-01-01 2013-12-31 Job1 Employer XX 1234 2013 NOA Line 150 7
2013-01-01 2013-12-31 Job2 Employer XX 1234 2013 NOA Line 150 7
2012-01-01 2012-12-31 Job1 Employer XX 1234 2012 NOA Line 150 7
2012-01-01 2012-12-31 Job2 Employer XX 1234 2012 NOA Line 150 7

2. As for my sister, she had a job from 2012-01-01 until 2012-01-24 and then went on maternity leave from 2012-01-25 until 2013-01-24. She was then unemployed from 2013-01-25 until 2013-10-07. She got work from 2013-10-08 until now. I know this is very confusing/tedious and your help will be very much appreciated in terms of putting it on the table for employment history. Will this be correct:?

From To Employer Address Phone Gross Income Family Size
2014-01-01 Present Employed xx 123 2014 NOA Line 150 7
2013-10-08 2013-12-31 Employed xx 123 2013 NOA Line 150 7
2013-01-25 2013-10-07 unemployed xx 123 2013 NOA Line 150 7
2013-01-01 2013-01-24 Maternity xx 123 2013 NOA Line 150 7
2012-01-25 2012-12-31 Maternity xx 123 2012 NOA Line 150 7
2012-01-01 2012-01-24 Employed xx 123 2012 NOA Line 150 7

When on maternity leave, should I put the phone number of the Service canada or just her personal phone number will do?

3. I also have issues in filling out the table for the source of income. I know the figures will be coming from the NOA, but which line should the figures for questions B - G will be coming from?

4. In the Use of Representative form, in number 10 question (Your declaration), should my mother sign the 'Signature of spouse or common law partner for sponsorship application' field? My Father is the principal applicant.

Thank you!!

My question is about form 5476
I didn't send it this year because I filled out forms by myself.

Use of a Representative (IMM 5476)
Who may use this form?
Complete this form only if you:
are appointing a representative;

have to update contact information for your previously appointed representative; or
are cancelling a representative’s appointment.
If you have dependent children aged 18 years or older, they are required to complete their own copy of this form if a representative is also conducting business on their behalf.
Who is a representative?
A representative is someone who provides advice, consultation, or guidance to you at any stage of the application process
, or in a proceeding and, if you appoint him or her as your representative by filling out this form, has your permission to conduct business on your behalf with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Please advise, I thought I don't need it.

thanks

As for me (i am helping my sister with the requirements), I put myself as the representative of my parents (sponsored) because it will be difficult for my parents to see the correspondence from CIC (they are technologically challenged and thru mail takes time), so the communication will automatically go to my email. Also, I think I can find a good source of information from here that I can relay to my sister and my parents.

It is not a requirement to have a representative but this is one way for me to be sure that their application will properly taken cared of, at least.

Only the docs that are not in English or French must be accompanied by translated and certified/notarized copy.

I'm not too sure about the birth certificate. Some embassies make birth cert. inside Canada. You can contact your embassy. If you can't manage one, you can give the following:
1. Some affidavit to declare that you're the child of your parents
2. Your school certificates
3. Other ID's where it shows your parents' name (passport etc.)
