Hello,

When applying for the Notes on my application:

1. Do I submit the request under the "Access to Information Act" or the "Privacy Act"?

2. Do I want the notes in the electronic file or the physical file?

Thanks,

1. I am not sure of the difference but I believe if you are in Canada you can request the ATIP notes, and it does not cost you anything.

2. Electronic file. It will come in a PDF attached in an e-mail.

1. privacy act is free. i was able to order them with a consent form from my sponsor husband when i was visiting him in canada. i was aiming to get the ones you pay for and ended up not paying. they are a full set of notes, so there's really no discernable difference besides the payment.

2. ELECTRONIC for sure! otherwise they have to pull your file, and that has been reported as having negative consequences on processing times!

Thanks.

Go to the website, fill out the form. Done.

Hey Guys,

Totally new here. I just noticed that my e-CAS reads "Decision Made" - what happens next for someone with a UK Passport?

I should add mine was processed through Mississauga then Ottawa.

This Is my Timeline -

1. We received your application for permanent residence on May 1, 2014.

2. We started processing your application on December 24, 2014.

3. Medical results have been received. (Mid September)

4. A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision. (Friday 2nd Jan)

Cheers!

I have updated the spreadsheet with the date of this post as your DM, let me know if that is not the case.

I found out the exact dates today: DM on the 23rd of December and COPR received on the 2nd of January (I picked up the letter from the post office today)

Sorry - one more question:

I am the sponsor. If I do the request, will I only get the notes on the Sponsor application? Does this mean that I should do the application for the notes in my husband's name and get the consent for info release from him?

Thanks.

if you want the applicant's info, you have to have the applicant fill out a consent form for their file to be released to you. you will be able to get both files. you can order them in your name with the consent form, i believe.
