March 18th

I applied on March 19th. I have not received it. Did they send it by email?

Yeah they emailed them. The long weekend may cause a delay. I got it late afternoon PST if that helps. It is probably all automated!

You should have them by April 20. It always seems to come a month to the day after you requested them

When did they request that and do you know why they would?

Also, does anyone know if Monday is a holiday for CIC?

Last Thursday. I will scan and email them on Monday. I hope they respond quickly.

I assume (a) that you are in the UK and need to make the declaration in accordance with the law of England and Wales and (b) that one of your concerns is the formalities? You are using the wrong terminology and I am unsure whether you understand the formalities. What I think you need is a statutory declaration, not an affidavit, and it does not need to be 'notarized' if by that you mean sworn before a notary public. The form is straightforward. It starts with a standard heading <<I [full name] of [address] [occupation] do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows:>>. Then you write the body of the declaration in numbered paragraphs. You already have advice about the contents and I am not going to say any more about that. Then at the end of the statutory declaration you finish with the following formula: <<And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the Statutory Declarations Act, 1835>> Then, a few lines below, a space for your signature and below that again on another line
<<Declared at [address of solicitor] this ......[date] before me [space for solicitor's signature] A commissioner for oaths. >> Most solicitors' practices have commissioners for oaths. You do not need to find a notary public. There will be a small fee payable to the solicitor. That varies from firm to firm but £5 is not unusual.

Thanks Wowsers - yes I am in the UK. The statutory declaration sounds like much less grief than the notarized affidavit that I thought we needed- thank you!

I'm in a state of shock. Further proof of just how random ECAS updates are, my status has today on Easter Sunday been updated to DECISION MADE!

Trying not to get carried away just in case it's not good news, but can't quite believe it! After months and months of waiting for this update its finally happened. I had to do a double take at the screen when it loaded.

For the first time in my life I wish it wasn't a bank holiday tomorrow. :) The most nervous wait of all now begins!
