Ahhh it was revealed today that Canada lost 52,000 jobs and the unemployment rate went from 7 to 7.2% in March. That's probably why the Canadian dollar lost 0.02 points right off the bat...

£ strengthened too off the back of poor employment figures from the US and re confirmation from S&P of the UK AAA rating. PMI yesterday and vote against QE also helped the sterling love.

Yeh I thought the vote against QE would definitely move the pound but there was no reaction until today - a delayed reaction with all the economic news considered I guess. I think there will be more QE later this year and I guess the markets do too...

I've had £540 in a holding pattern for the past few weeks waiting for that damn rate to improve. Exchanged it today as soon as the rate soared, got an extra $20 for just waiting :). For all my online transfers, I use a company called Tranzfers, which is a part of the OzForex Group, which also includes CanadianForex and UKForex. Tranzfers is better for smaller amounts, smaller to them meaning less than £10 000 ;). For larger amounts, like someone transferring the profits of a house sale, the country specific Forex branches are better.

Can you please help me fond a norwegian/swedish interpreter as well??
Also if someone could tell me what kond of questiosn they will ask my wife..
Reallu worried :s

sure - but what is her mother tongue? because fom norwegian to swedish, the difference is not that big, so it could work. but it might be best (for her sake as well) to get a translator from her mother tongue to Swedish.
Otherwise Norwegian to Swedish - I have seen a few possibilities, so let me know.

Can I ask what quote you got, if you don't mind? I'm sitting on a chunk of GBP and waiting for the rates to improve. Thanks

Question for everyone! My wee one has a bike, scooter and some other small items we want to ship to canada! How do I go about sending a bike to canada! Anyone know?

Not sure if you have one in your area but 'Mail Boxes etc' were helpful they told me that I could ship my daughters bike (might need to take the wheels off to fit into the box). They said for a 30lb box it would cost £100

I'm flying air transit in a few weeks...its £20 for a bike and £65 for an extra bag, so depending how much stuff you have you could just take it with you.

So about an hour ago i was reading the Forum (which i do several times a week), i don't comment often but it makes me feel better reading it ;)
Today the doorbell rang mid read and our COPR was delivered!
Best Day Ever.
We intend to flagpole tomorrow at 1000 Island border cause it's prettier than Niagara.
Process was 8 months once application was sent. Total a little over 2 years from when he moved here.
:D :D :D

Just got home from the border. We drove to Thousand Island Bridge, it took about 15 min for the USA to give us Admin Refusal, then over to Canada side, another 10 min and done. They only asked for his passport, COPR and something with his address on it (we ended up giving them the envelope that the COPR was mailed in). No marriage cert.
Monday morning heading to Service Canada office for SIN number.

Next step in the health care. Anyone know what we need for that? I just read on the forum that his name on a utility bill in necessary. He has lived here 2 years and his name is on the mortgage and house. Is that enuf?

Update from my post a couple of days ago. (emailed CIC because of medical expiring) and today I got a request for the second payment for PR. SO exciting! Guess my husband has been approved ;D
If anyone is in a similar situation, I suggest sending them an email, because I have a feeling that my husband's application was forgotten. Seems that happens often...
