just so you know - if you're flying icelandair to North America, you can also stay a few days in Iceland for free - you can "split" your ticket for up to 7 days (I think) and have a long lay over in Iceland, and go for a little tour... we did that, it was great! a very good experience, I had never been to Iceland before, and apart from the fact that everything was VERY expensive, we have a great 5 days holidays! I can definitely recommend it...

Thanks!! I'll mention it to my husband and see what he thinks! My mom stayed over night there and she said it was insane expensive! Lol

+1 to this. Iceland is terrific. Though the women were all so beautiful I found my eyes wandering a little too much for my wife to let go....

I am getting a little anxious now. I haven't heard from CIC and our medicals expire on 21st June. If by luck they give us DM between now and June 21st without a medical extension, I am not quite sure we will be able to do everything in less than 6 weeks and land before Medicals expire. This is me being optimistic because I still have no idea what is going on with our file. CIC has never (officially) asked us for any further documentation or to have our medicals further investigated. I have no idea if they have actually found my daughters medical information or not or if it was even lost in the first instance. I was really hoping to have some news over the last 2 weeks and still nothing. As of the 25th April, we will have been in London 7 months. Not sure whether to keep pestering them or not.

it's been a long time indeed, and I think it's reasonable to send them a case-specific enquiry, explaining that because the medicals are coming to expiry date soon, and because of your child school schedule etc, you would need to plan ahead, and you can try and ask them if they are missing some papers, if they have found your daughter's medicals, and if they will be able to issue the PR before the expiry of medicals, or if they intend to extend it etc. - and hopefully you will get an answer. Even if you're not over the posted timeline, I think you could also ask your husband to investigate with his MP... to see if he can get some more information.

Hopefully they will answer so you can plan a little more, and bit less in the dark!
Good luck,
Sweden

Thanks Sweden,

I have sent ANOTHER enquiry, not as polite and charming as my previous ones, but they haven't gotten me very far, so this one was just to the points, not even a dear sir or madam. My patience is wearing really thin.

I can imagine, it's been a really long wait for you. I hope this one gets you an answer!

I wanted to let people know (because i spent many sleepless nights worrying), when we sent in our app to Mississauga our FBI finger prints were 6 months old. They say on the site that they must be less than 3 months old. It wasn't an issue, we never heard anything about that from them.
Hope that helps someone out there.
We are delayed in going to Service Canada today. A Man flu has hit!!!

London got back to me:

"The documents were issued and mailed on 03/04/13. You should therefore expect to receive the documents soon."

...Does that sound positive? A part of me worries that what they're sending me is a big fat rejection letter... lol.

You'll need to send a case specific enquiry and inform them of the correct address. You can do so here: https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=london

Okay, thanks I just did that. They got the house number wrong, but it's strange as it wasn't wrong before when I logged into ECAS. In fact, I think the address change happened today. I check ECAS every day and this is the first I've seen it listed wrong.

And...

I just noticed on our email for sponsorship approval they had my house number wrong there as well.

Can anyone chime in on why it would have changed on ECAS?

Decision made 28/3/2013. GCMS notes show London forgot about my file until I emailed them in February...

Just got home from the border. We drove to Thousand Island Bridge, it took about 15 min for the USA to give us Admin Refusal, then over to Canada side, another 10 min and done. They only asked for his passport, COPR and something with his address on it (we ended up giving them the envelope that the COPR was mailed in). No marriage cert.
Monday morning heading to Service Canada office for SIN number.

Next step in the health care. Anyone know what we need for that? I just read on the forum that his name on a utility bill in necessary. He has lived here 2 years and his name is on the mortgage and house. Is that enuf?
Ha you're matching me. I landed on Saturday at Niagara. Took about maybe 30 mins max, easy peasy. My border crossing from IEC1 to IEC2 in December took longer. It required 4 documents - COPR, passport, administrative refusal from US and Ontario drivers license (for address verification) since I had no goods to follow.

Already been to Service Canada this morning to get my permanent SIN. Faxed it off to the credit agencies here this morning too. Tomorrow I will go and see my bank. Later in the week I'll switch the OHIP to permanent, getting finances sorted first was more important and I've been waiting months and months at much cost thanks to CIC...

I see you emailed them but thought I'd mention you should definitely point out to CIC that you are concerned about the medical expiry date. The quicker they apply for an extension the better and based on what you're saying this is the safest idea.

Thanks Michty6 . I have asked them if they intend to apply for an extension or require us to get another medical or do the intend to give us PR before then...so hopefully I will get some sort of answer.....maybe.....probably not....

they wouldn't deny you without asking for an interview or more document - unless you intended to sponsor somebody who didn't qualify. In your case, if you're sponsoring your partner, and they haven't asked you for an interview, it's all good! the COPR is coming - now you can start stalking the postman! :)
