Landing at an office wouldn't require leaving Canada again. You book a landing appointment.

I flew into Toronto in January, then once I got my passport back from London in April, my husband and I drove to Buffalo and shopped for the day, then returned to Canada to land at the Queen/Lewiston bridge.
I only mentioned the ability to make a landing appointment because some people are not within driving distance from the Canadian border.

ok, thanks, I now understand.

It's 300 miles to the border, so it's do-able, or there is CIC Vegreville. My wife, who is Canadian, has lived out of Canada for more than five years, so it appears that she can return with any belongings duty-free.

thanks pinklady!

When London returns your passport do they send you an email with a tracking number?

I did not get one.... but I did hear one person had emailed asking about when it would be posted and they emailed back with a tracking number.

Probably the biggest blunder one would do at this stage is to NOT send ur app though courier or registered mail, saving few bucks would certainly guarantee sleepless nights indeed! Why take that chance!

I didn't try save money by not sending my application by courier or registered mail. I already explained earlier that I thought I could not, because there would be no one to sign for it since it is a PO Box address. With the sheer volume of applications they must receive I didn't think they would have someone there signing for each and every one. Like I said, I should have asked people here before sending it, but what is done is done.

Just sent off our application! Should be received by Wednesday :D.

Yey! I updated the spreadsheet :)

Hi Everyone,

Ive just two days ago sent off my sponsorship forms for my husband. I was just wondering, I know the embassy website says 8-9 months but can it come throught quicker. I only ask because I think ours is a pretty straight forward case, been together 7 years...married..have a son etc. Was wondering if this would speed any of the process up.

Also im a bit nervous about being accepted as a sponsor...I left Canada after I was 5...would that have an impact on my ability to sponsor?

Sorry if these seem like silly questions..im all anxious now everythings sent off! :D

Hi Lesley,

Welcome to the forum! Have a look at my spreadsheet, link is below, and it will show you timelines of different people who have also gone through the London office. Average seems to be about 120 days total (although that has gone up recently with the delays at Mississauga).
Would you mind if I added you to the spreadsheet?

Don't worry about being accepted as a sponsor, plenty of other people are in the same boat as you, Louise86 for one :)

Good luck!
