Cindy1 I have a quick question..
How do you know your interview was waived? Have you had a passport request yet?

We ordered CAIPS notes tonight, and hope for some info.

Thanks

In the CAIPS notes it states that it appears our relationship is genuine and no interview required, in so many words.

No passport request yet. :'(

Oh, I guess I didn't see you in the rows I looked at. I'm glad the other person who posted was able to help you with the insurance issues - I am, alas, totally unknowledgeable about such things. I did know about the 3 month wait for OHIP though. For me, insurance isn't a big deal right now - I can wait for that, I just want to be out of this immigration limbo :)

Thanks for the info and well wishes. It does help. I am on the spreadsheet already at 12/24/2010.

BTW, I contacted OHIP about healthcare and they were very helpful. The game me some resources to contact and said I should be able to get "credit" for my time in CA. If you are concerned about healthcare while you are waiting for you OHIP to kick in, I'd recommend giving a OHIP a call. Also, found out I probably should have taken out "visitor insurance" as soon as I got here. Not too expensive considering all the other expenses involved in this process.

Just got my passport request today! I am a Feb 2011 applicant whose file got transferred to Detroit on August 10th.
Good luck to all who are waiting!

I've now been living in Canada under a visitor visa for nearly 3 months waiting from my PPR. My app was sent in Late December and received by Buffalo on Feb 2rd. Never though I'd still be waiting. At this point my insurance from my last job has run out and I'm reading that I won't be eligible for OHIP for 3 month after I get my PPR. This is very worrisome. I'm generally a healthy person but anything can happen in 3 or 6 months. I've read that inland applicant don't have the same waiting period. But I don't know if there is anything I can do at this point. Starting to get really down about this. Any advice?

I used Blue Cross Quebec to cover me temporarily while in Canada (with no U.S. coverage). This thread has some options that discuss various options:

As for me and my house...

No PPR, but I did send another GCMS request tonight.

Just for kicks I sent a GCMS/FOSS request in for myself (sponsor).

Chances are, we'll have PPR before they get around to sending us this... hard to say, though.

How long does it take for Caips notes to arrive? About a month? Are they mailed or emailed, and to whom? The sponsor or the sponsee?
I am just really anxious for information and cannot wait for them to come. It has been almost 4 weeks since we requested them ::)

Times vary, I have seen some take 4 weeks, others, 5-6 weeks and some a lot longer.
But it depends on how you ordered them, direct or via a company.

They are emailed if you requested "send by email" (and the file is less than 25 pages.

Call and ask the status.

Oh thanks for the tip, Baloo. I thought I heard someone mentioned that you can call. I will do that right now!

OMG OMG OMG

I think we are approved, my husband just got this ecas update email and the same info is posted on the online CIC portal.

"A decision has been made on HIS NAME application. The
office will contact HIS NAME concerning this decision."

Is this true, please tell me this is good news? What's next guys? What do we need to do next? I can't think straight.

I guess they really were worried I might camp out. ;D

Our ecas finally updated to Decision Made for my hubby this morning... although he got the email on the 11th. Did your husband not provide CIC with an email address originally Cindy1? He's probably waiting on snail mail then.

ROFL about the camping out comment. I guess CIC peeks on us here and they were getting nervous.

Your husband is the primary applicant, right?

As for me, I (well, my sponsoring husband) got a letter yesterday (dated August 22) saying they were pleased to report they received the RPRF fee I paid and "notified" the visa office that it had been paid. I'm wondering if that's it. I sent the receipt only earlier in the month. So much for the 4-6 week processing time?

Also, hopefully I will get the GCMS notes on September 2 like the woman at the Access to Info & Privacy Client Service Unit said.

I'm also faxing a letter to my DMP in Montreal asking them to confirm if they forwarded medical results to Ottawa and if so, when. I contacted Buffalo and Ottawa about the same issue and got no response so far.

OK another email directly from Buffalo

We are now in a passport to request your passport!!!!

We want to go to Buffalo, today! :P OK, maybe Thursday. Can we?

Do we have to have to wait for snail mail?

I'M SO EXCITED.
