Hello! Just stumbled on the site this afternoon. Terrific amount of useful, supportive information. I was hoping to find out the process going forward from where I am. Quick backstory: Married to a Canadian (in Canada, in 2007), lived in Canada as a grad student from 2003-2008, and we have two children. After graduation, we moved to the US for my job. However, we have decided to move to Canada for family reasons. I have done my FBI fingerprinting, medicals, etc; mailed the application; received the AOR recently. The listed time on the CIC website for outland Buffalo applicants is 11 months. In a straightforward case like ours, where the interview might be waived, how long is the wait likely to be (understanding, of course, that things can go wrong)? What is the process from AOR forward? Thank you kindly for your assistance!

No one can say what the wait is likely to be with a straight forward case. There have been some people here with complicated cases (divorce, custody, etc.) be done in a 4 months, and some people with straight forward cases take several months. How long ago have u applied?

So I got antsy today and decided to order my spouses caips notes (or whatever they are called now in Buffalo). I sent them to the fax # both in Ottawa and the one in the maritimes. Hopefully it wont take too long!
I figured I may as well order them now, since by the time Im assuming Id get them (in a month?) by then it would have been a few months and I just want to see whats going on.

Applied mid-June, and received AOR this week. Thanks for your reply!

Hi! did you received an email from Buffalo or a letter in the mail? Your AOR was really fast!!

Hi Jayde,

I had finally sent another inquiry, this time just asking for the status. I've been travelling a bit and heading to visit Canada again next week and just needed some peace of mind, since I didn't hear squat about my address change either. And I know the feeling, I'm constantly thinking what if they made a typo on my e-mail and I never find out, etc. etc....

And not without reason. Funny that as well, I was able to log in this morning using my file number, and not only did they not change my address as requested in May, they have it wrong. Awesome.

Has anyone even received anything via sail mail these days anyway or is most everything done through e-mail?

I received AOR and PPR by email, but when they lost the RPRF and requested it be paid (even though I had already paid it), it was by snail mail. then it got lost in the mail + postal strike, and ended up delaying us months.

@ eletyl

When the status change from "Application Received" to "In Process" I'm assuming after receiving AOR, did those statuses were notified by email or you just noticed by login into e-cas?

just by logging into e-cas. (actually, I had signed up for the e-cas tracker, so it had sent me an automated email)

Hello again!

Quick question re: certifying photocopies...I've read that we need to include certified copies of documents. Does this apply to ALL documents? Or just some? The two copies I am considering certifying are our passport photocopies, and our lease agreement. For our joint bank account statement we will just send in the original, and original bills, etc. Photocopies I do not wish to certify are copies of postcards, various memberships (costco, community centre, etc), and bank statements showing transferring money, me paying for his student visa application, etc.

Should certifying the lease and passport be enough? What did other people do?

Also: it is true that for American applicants, we send 2 immigration photos? And four recent photos?

These two issues have been particularly confusing for us!

Thanks so much for any help!!!

Ahhh congratulations sparkle!!!! ;D ;D
