Honestly, there is no "surely" when dealing with immigration.

As she moved back to Canada in March, a IO at the border might assume that she would have moved her stuff already.
If you turn up at the border with your stuff, you could have a lot of explaining to do.
I know of a few people that have moved items and had no problem, but there are others that have been refused entry.

Have your wife cross the border with you and bring proof of the sponsorship. She can advise CBSA that the stuff belongs to both of you and you are awaiting the results of the sponsorship and PR application. They may have you complete some paperwork and they may not but you will be fine.

Good Luck pdb1!

Sorry to interrupt here, but I was hoping you guys would give me some advice about where to send my Right of Permanent Residence Fee payment.

What happened is I did not pay it up front when I filed the application, but last week or so I went in and paid it online (sending it to Mississaugua like I did the initial fees I paid) because I did not want this to delay my processing. Yesterday, someone happened to post a question about "how will they know the payment is associated with so and so's file?" and people responded that one would need to print out the receipt one is emailed and add the client ID where it asks for it and then mail that in. But I was not sure whether to Mississaugua or to Buffalo. Anyone here know for sure? Thanks!

Hello, I just wanted to share that I did the same thing I didn't pay the fee upfront and I paid it at a later date, I printed the receipt and sent it by regular mail to Mississauga, the way I know it's associated to my file is (you have to wait a week or two) by logging into e-Cas and select the option to login using "Receipt Number IMM 5401" once it's processed you should be able to see the same information as you do when you login with your client ID, as with me, I have 2 receipt # the first one I sent with the application and the second one when I paid the RPRF online, I can login using both though both will take you to the same information.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Thanks! And, another hint: for a better spot in line, try to sit or stand as close to the door to the escalators (NOT the elevators) as possible. :)
Yes- good point! I was seated closer to the elevators because that was what was left when I got there.

Sparkle, try calling at this number 6139412170

This is Ottawa medical office number I found on other forum. If you get lucky you might get thru and talk to the respective person.
I tried calling this number but it kept going on voicemail. However I found this other number on a different forum, and someone actually picked up. The number was 613-941-6641
The lady spoke to me, and I asked about my husband's medicals, and she said that the results have been sent to Buffalo long ago, but they did inquire about them again yesterday, and she said I sent the "Reference #" to them and the issue has been resolved.
Hopefully this means, Buffalo found them, or atleast has a reference # to follow up on!

Roxanne,

I can't believe you're giving this advice, especially with your career as an immigration consultant being dependent on giving good advice!

As a Canadian, I've crossed into the US and Canada enough times to know that doing things right isn't even a guarantee that you won't have issues. Don't assume anything.

Baloo has the correct answer: "Honestly, there is no "surely" when dealing with immigration."

Since we married last October, my wife (US citizen) and I have crossed the border three times. We are both upstanding citizens and have followed the rules all along. The first time at Toronto Pearson was relatively easy, but the second time (two months later) at Vancouver Int'l was a bit more challenging and most recently at the Sumas (land) crossing we were fearful that she wouldn't be allowed in.

It is entirely at the whim of the border guards. Despite the fact that she has *never* overstayed and she has always left when she said she would, AND we have approved sponsorship and an application that is in progress in Buffalo, they still see her as a risk.

The best advice: do *NOT* ever take immigration checkpoints for granted. Do things *right* and don't try to get by with something that bends the rules or raises red flags.

Hi!

I've finally gotten an update from Buffalo after trying to change my address which included my File number (starts with F) and a note that my application is in process and the usual we are unable to provide a date note. I've always logged into ecas using my husbands (sponsor) info - client number, etc. Tried logging in using the Fnumber and my info, but couldn't. Should I be using my info or his? Or could it be that I just can't log in with that number as yet?

Thanks....

PS - Congrats to everyone seeing some movement. Its been a bit more refreshing to check here lately!

When I asked for the file number they sent me an F# and a B#. I then tried to log in with the F number and my information (I am the person being sponsored) and it worked. It had my name and address.

Not sure why you can't log in though.

When you log in with the file number you use the applicant's information, not the sponsor's info.

Grats on the progress tho!

Thanks, I was mostly sure it was my info (applicant) but it didn't work so I tried both, and now its locked me out for the day saying I've tried too many times unsuccessfully. Guess I'll try again tomorrow. Hope they haven't made any mistakes in my info barring me from signing in....

Did the update come automatically to your e-mail address or was it a result of an inquiry?

We sent in our change of address around the same time as you and we haven't heard a peep since. Disheartening really... and quite stressful to think that a PPR could come through and we wouldn't have a clue.

RThread for outland Buffalo applicants!

Hello! Just stumbled on the site this afternoon. Terrific amount of useful, supportive information. I was hoping to find out the process going forward from where I am. Quick backstory: Married to a Canadian (in Canada, in 2007), lived in Canada as a grad student from 2003-2008, and we have two children. After graduation, we moved to the US for my job. However, we have decided to move to Canada for family reasons. I have done my FBI fingerprinting, medicals, etc; mailed the application; received the AOR recently. The listed time on the CIC website for outland Buffalo applicants is 11 months. In a straightforward case like ours, where the interview might be waived, how long is the wait likely to be (understanding, of course, that things can go wrong)? What is the process from AOR forward? Thank you kindly for your assistance!

Thanks guys...we are going to be using movers to move most of the goods and the idea is that the B4 forms will be filled under my wife's name. I am going to be driving across the border to bring over the car but perhaps I may be the best idea is to come over as a visitor and then once I get my PR, ask them to change the registration of the car from being US to Canada.
