I will be heading to Buffalo today to take my passport tomorrow to their office. Will be waiting a week or so to land. I will come back and post how it all goes....

I am so surprised it has been so quiet on here as far as PPRs go this last week or so. I hope Buffalo picks up speed again really soon....

All the best...it looks like it took you about 7 months to complete the entire process.

Has anyone been approved as a sponsor, but then have their spouse get denied PR because they don't think their sponsor can provide for them? I'm pretty worried about this. =/

I don't think this would happen. If they are going to deny because the sponsor doesn't qualify I believe this would happen during the first step (i.e. Mississauga).

Take a copy of the receipt showing you paid the fees already - that way if there IS an interrogation, you can show you've applied legally and are not trying to sneak in, that you're doing everything above board.

Does anyone know if I am required to declare that I am applying for PR when I cross into Canada with my wife and family to visit?

We are driving to Alberta from Colorado. My family is visiting for two weeks and I am visiting for one week, flying home to Colorado then flying back up to Calgary to drive home with them.

If I don't need to declare anything, then I won't. Just want to do what is obligated of me and my sponsor (wife) and by the book.

Thanks!

I think once your sponsor is approved then the sponsor is approved unless CIC found out that there are misrepresentations of documents submitted pertaining to the sponsor. The PR applications will be processed differently.

On another forum Im on, someone who sent their application mid-January just got PPR today. Maybe they are starting to pick up.

Ok we finally got notice that Buffalo is requesting my hubby's passport. The process is finally over. Thanks to all those and good luck to those still in process. Buffalo is moving again!

Good news from kaz and tiggilicous. I came up with some descriptive statistics from sparkle's spreadsheet though....

DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS

For the 41 people who DID get PPR on the spreadsheet as of this writing:

Mean = 151.59 (interpretation: average person got PPR a little over 151 days - that's about 5 months - after sending in their application)
(median is slightly less at 133)

Hi = 349.0, Low = 61.00 (interpretation: the fastest PPR was granted was 61 days - that's about 2 months - after the person sent in their application, while the slowest was 349 days - that's about 11.6 months!)

Congrats!!!

We mailed in our packet to Mississauga May 5th. Assume we'll at least hear that I'm ok to sponsor by mid-June! No fun sitting and waiting. We've been married 29 years and need to move back to Ontario to help my folks out. Hoping immigration paperwork doesn't wait too long. We can't afford my husband (US born) to not work!

Hey everyone. I was approved as sponsor on March 1st, and Buffalo received my application on March 11th, but I never got an AOR either by email or snail mail from Buffalo.

Would they have sent that to me or my husband? I ask since I received nothing, and if it was him they sent it to, then it went to his spam, and we need to by hyper vigilant in future.

I know Buffalo has been backlogged, so I wondered if anyone didn't receive anything, if ecas just updated, and if it's supposed to go to Sponsor or Applicant?

Hey !

I will update it asap.

So does your e-cas say "In Process" ? I wonder did they just skip some of the files in middle, especially the ones submitted in Dec, and are probably now going backwards to them :(

Hi sparkle,

Can you please add myself to the spreadsheet?

Hey, AOR will be the file number that will be sent to your husband's email address that you put on your form.
Buffalo received my application on Feb 2, and I received my AOR on April 27. I guess, it will take some time for your AOR, but Buffalo has been really unpredictable. Some of the people who applied after all of us in December thread, have started getting 'In Process' on e-cas which we are still waiting for. So I would suggest, keep checking his email regularly, coz you never know!

If there's one thing I've learned in this process, it's not to expect any kind of timeframe.

Our application showed in process as of Nov/10 and we've still made no headway. We thought our app would be simple - we're both mid 20s, educated, no children, no exes (not even common law). But, nothing yet.

It's beyond frustrating, but all we can do is hurry up and wait. My advice is don't expect anything in terms of a turnaround. It can be slow or it can be fast. I'm starting to think it's luck of the draw.

We're sure it'll be fine; we've always had lovely luck when applying for extensions to his visitor's visa. He's back in Vegas now, but when he was here from May/10-Feb/11 we had applied for an extension so we could spend Christmas together for the first time. We had only requested it be extended until mid Jan/11 and had applied in October, but when we received it, they had approved him until Dec31...of 2011.

We can only assume that everything is fine, it's just a waiting game. Good luck to all! Can't be much longer now...right?

Hellooo! Just a quick update, my attorney received our file number from buffalo today (FXXXXXXXXX). This was via an email request my attorney had sent them. Only because our file is still outstanding with FBI and RPRF. So now that we have that we will sent it this Friday! :)
Hoping this is considered my AOR?!?!
Happy to see movement at Buffalo and hoping for the best for all.
