So, it says I must submit it via mail, however when I click on the mailing instructions link it says I have two options that I can mail it or I can drive up to Buffalo (completely feasible from where I am) and submit in person. Buh? So, which is it...can I drive up there and do it in person bypassing the waiting for the mail or do I have to mail it? Holy crap.

Wow, your app went FAST! Congrats!

As far as I know, you can still go to Buffalo in person. I did, and I know lots of others here did too. Getting it all done in one day is just better than waiting weeks for the mail (in my opinion, anyway... I was only there for a few hours!)

That being said, I got my PPR right before they made the switch from requiring the passport to put in the counterfoil along with the COPR. I have no idea how it works now that visa-exempt applicants no longer require the counterfoil... Hopefully someone with a more recent PPR can confirm/deny everything I just said here! ;)

What is Ecas saying?

I don't know if this question is for me, but ecas is just saying "in process" and the usual (we started processing your application on...medicals have been received). It doesn't mention the fact that the interview has been waived or that the requested additional police checks.

My first reaction was shock, then I burst into tears, then I posted here. Then I was hit with guilt because it did go really fast for us, startlingly so, and so many people are still waiting. And if it means anything, I will redouble my efforts with praying for those still waiting. I know it's heart wrenching, and I almost feel like I didn't earn my stripes since my wait wasn't all that long.

Thanks for the info amaranth! I am with you, it's the one thing aside from filling out the applications I have control over...I am totally going to Buffalo and leaving with my COPR.

And my e-cas still just says in process...no idea if York Region was asking me.

If anyone has gone to Buffalo since the counterfoil change, please let me know.

And yes mumbles...I can't help but be happy. I am going to get to go home to my husband for the very first time and get to stay forever. I can't be sad about that. :D

Since Dec. 1 visa exempt countries no longer get a counter foil in their passport. It's ok, it's making the immigration process faster or so they say. And I don't know if it would
change the part where you show up in Buffalo or not. :) It's a good thing overall.

Essentially, the counterfoil was a fancy sticker with all the visa info that they stuck in the passport, along with the COPR.

Before the change (I think it was December 1st), ALL applicants were required to send their passport to the designated visa office to get a counterfoil, no matter if they were from a visa exempt country or not. After the change, they are only asking for photocopies of all pages of the passport instead of the passport itself. In some cases, I've seen people say they just got the COPR in the mail, no request or anything, though I don't recall seeing that for Buffalo folks yet...

The change seems to have made the post-PPR process a bit faster, and there's no risk of a passport being lost in the mail. I do like the look of that swanky sticker in my passport though! :D

Yeah....that was my concern....the passport getting lost in the mail.....then we would really be in trouble :( I was happy whne we got the PPR and it said OR photocopies of all pages! :)

Based on your avatar, I assume you're on a visa in the US using the Buffalo office? I can't think of any other reason why you'd get overlooked if not!
