Thanks bargeld, mjh, nhl, americaninquebec, quince, etc. for the thoughts on the "already being in Canada" issue.

So to reiterate - do you guys think it's worth it to include this info prominently in the spreadsheet to track the effect it has or no?

Yes, many have. Or to LA, Detroit, or Seattle. These are just Buffalo's satellite offices. As the letter states, apparently it's to expedite processing. Why they transfer for some but not for others remains a mystery. You shouldn't contact Buffalo any longer regarding your file - use the contact info for NYC.

Thanks for your reply.
We sent a box with our application & relevant documents to Mississauga, so maybe Buffalo thought it's a hugh homework for them, then transfer it to other office. ;D

Lol, an actual box (how big?) Or you mean you put it in one of those priority mail boxes? :D

Dunno if it's worth posting but ecas now says my wife's app is "In process" and medical results have been received.

7.5kg for our documents. :)

Yeah but the visa office did know you were about to have a baby, didn't it? I know from other cases, they will expedite processing if that is the situation as you would have to pay a huge amount for the delivery without the insurance.

I'm not sure in what sense you mean "living" but sans Christmas 2011 vacation with family in Michigan when I already had PR, I've been in Canada since April 2010 otherwise, and as you can see app was filed in May.

Honestly it's like watching climate models unfold, and ultimately fail, to predict the future of too many variables, in this sense, there's no single or such single-handed determinant of time like one's current stay in Canada. Quite a number of people have different criminal backgrounds, are being sponsored from a spouse in/out of Quebec, have different social workers who work at different paces, there's many reasons that hold up an app, I just hope yours gets resolved soon. :)

Anyone have an opinion on sending in the copies of the passport with the docs, AND travelling to Buffalo to see if I can get it sooner with my actual passport? Would they care if I "guaranteed" myself this way, and just discard the post I sent if I obtained my COPR directly, in person?

Yay! Congratulations!

PPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This morning I received my PPR letter from Buffalo. It's the old 30-days to send either the passport or photocopies of the entire document.

We cried, danced, and jumped as I am still visiting my wife in BC. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prayers to you all waiting. I know it's hard. We didn't expect it today.

I wouldn't recommend it. You don't want to annoy them, which you might, even if you say that you changed your mind.

Sounds encouraging. :)

Wow, things are rolling along on here. While I still don't have PPR, I got an e-cas update from the e-cas tracker saying, "A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision."

Hmn, very unusual to get "decision made" before PPR. I'll take it though.

I managed to get my SIN number without a hitch, but getting my driver's license exchanged ended up being a show stopper. The abstract I have isn't good enough as it doesn't list my complete driving history. That, and since I've recently renewed, I can't even prove that I had a license for the required two years for an even swap yet. (even though I've had a license for 22 years) However, she did give me the proper form to fill out so I can get the proper abstract from Lansing. I didn't go apply for my health card yet.

I have 60 days to swap out my licence. Well, 59 now, but I should have this resolved well before then.

Does my letter mean I cannot fly to Buffalo, and submit in person?

I'm curious about that too. I went in person to pick up mine at the end of 2009. I wonder if this is a change related to the whole counterfoil thing.
