My app was filed back in Nov 2010 to begin with so things have probably changed alot since then.
Was your app filed in November 2010 or February 2011 as per your timeline on your profile?

Like Calgary-Bound said, Mississauga processed the sponsor portion for outlanders (then forwards to the appropriate VO), Vegreville does both parts for inlanders. I know I said "continuously," but I *believe* they may overlook short and temporary separations for CL couples, and I'm thinking if you still had ties to your shared residence in Canada while you were back in the states (like leaving most of your belongings there), 3 weeks can be considered "short" and temporary. I can't say for sure though. You can always try and see what they say.

Mississauga even if I'm applying outland?

I can understand. I had visitor status and was here 6 months, went back for 3 weeks and came back and April 30th would be 5 months more in Canada. He was with me for 2 weeks prior to the first 6 months as we prepped for everything.

Well originaly In Nov 2010 but my app got returned about a month and a half later because they said I was missing a form. But the form was in the packet when they returned it to me.I opened the packet and it was a mess nothing was in order anymore. No wonder they lose so many peoples forms and request them over again.

The basic answer is that you do need to include some kind of financial information as the sponsor but there is no financial requirement to sponsoring someone in the spousal category.
That's what I thought. I have a letter from both my employer's stating that I do indeed have jobs with them, plus I'm including my recent paystubs. I was just unsure as to if I needed to send in my tax information as well

Great! Thank you. I know it did say that for short absences that was OK.. family, business, etc. They approved my return so I did it all by the books on being here.. I will apply for extension in March and start the CL application afterward.

You should include Option C that you can request from Revenue Canada.

Got one other question for you guys...

When submitting apps for common law you pay the Sponsor $75, the Principal applicant fee of $475 I know. The right of permanent resident fee of $550... do I pay that then, or later?

Just trying to make sure I know what fees are upfront and when the rest are due... are there anymore I'm missing?

Better to pay everything now if your wallet can take it. Paying the permanent resident fee later typically delays the processing of your file.

I'm going to submit fees early so I can have a receipt to show I'm starting the app process for common law when applying for an extension of stay. I have to apply for that in March, but my common law status would not actually start until May 14th so I won't send the forms until then but will have fees paid in March. ... would it be too much of a delay to pay the other part in May when I mail off the forms and let what I have paid be enough proof to show I've started the process? Monthly salary and all and our other bills, I'll have the rest the following month.

Note:
The right of permanent resident fee is 490 not 550. You can pay it now to avoid further delay in during process, but you can still pay it later upon request by CIC VO handling your application.
