Are you presently in Canada? If so, you paid *WAY* more than you had to. The site most of us link to is the immipedia page for ordering notes. There are links to the ATIP form and how to send it in there. And, if you are in Canada, it's free. If you're not, but you have a friend or family member who is, you pay $5.
I am sadly not in Canada. We thought about having my sponsor do it; but I just wanted it faster. I might go the ATIP route for the next ones, though!

I don't see paying $40 a pop as being very economical if it takes up to 6.5 months longer to get through this process (wishful thinking about the time frame!).

But, the info is the same either route. It was very very great to see what e_cas has not yet told me: that I am in process, and that my medicals are approved. Very worth it. Also, knowing they have not even started my other portions of the file such as security, makes me calm down a bit about nursing my email address for PPR pie in the sky notions. It's going to be a while, and I can just relax!

Thanks for all the help in this! I've learned SO much here.

Okay, Monday morning is here and my fingers are crossed this is my week. As of 10:20 am this morning no changes in ecas and no emails from CIC. I'd really love my PPR, but at the very least wouldn't mind my GCMS notes coming in so I know what the heck is going on in Buffalo. Though, if I do get my PPR this week I'll be really pissed if they give me a 15 day turn around, which would force me to cancel my trip home for Thanksgiving. Either that or we'll be leaving at midnight Tuesday to get to Buffalo in time to get my visa before driving home to my parents' place. ::)

Hey Everyone, just wanted to write up a "goodbye" post :)
and to up date our timeline in case anyone wants to see our info.

PPR issued......: October 8th 2011

Looking at my timeline- doesn't look so bad in retrospect but here is the timeline with all the added fun stuff.

Visa Office......: Buffalo

App. Sent.......:November 30th 2010

App. Filed.......: December 2nd 2010

Sponsor Approved: Jan 17th 2011

AOR Received.: January 26th 2011 (Via Ecas) Then again a paper AOR on March 31st 2011

Regarding these 2 AOR's I wrote to Buffalo and asked if there was a mistake, because I had received 2 AORs in different formats and the time difference on each AOR(2 months) is like YEARS in immigration queues. They responded with, use the later date. Somehow i lost 2 months of "processing" time.

We needed to do an address change for my husband, as he entered Canada in December 2010 as a visitor, in March when his 3 months was coming to a close we applied to extend his VR and he was issued a 3 year Visitor Record o_O Pretty long VR huh? So we said, okay theres no way he will be down south for the rest of this so we put in an address change. then another. then another. then ANOTHER! Each time they kept responding with "the address we have on file for you is XXX NOT YOUR ADDRESS" finally I forwarded all 4 requests, and their generic response and said Look, we are NOT at that address and all we need is an address change to our Canadian address! They changed it. Whew! GREAT! That could have been bad if Buffalo didn't change our mailing address....

File Transfer...: August 9th 2011 (Los Angeles)

PPR issued......: October 8th 2011 SENT TO THE OLD ADDRESS THAT WE PUT 5 REQUESTS IN TO CHANGE!!!! Now, we KNOW they changed the address because we got the "your file has been transferred to LA" letter sent to our home. BUT- the most important document, the PPR got sent to his old address. It is time sensitive (30 days) we got the letter 5 days before hubby would have unknowingly declined to become a PR. It cost us thousands, to be able to get to Los Angeles in time. We had one window of opportunity for him to be at the LA consulate Thursday morning and he did it. I just worry- had this happened to someone who was unable to pull 4k out of their ass to get the hell out of dodge and pretty much make magic happen, that family would have to start the process all over again.

Immigration is awful. AWFUL!!! I am so happy we never have to endure this again!!!!!!!!

to end the timeline...

Passport/Visa issued: November 10th 2011

GOODLUCK TO ALL!! AND THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE WHO OFFERS SUPPORT AND ADVICE!!!

Trish, so happy you are done with these shenanigans and headaches from a visa office that we all well know is not a well-oiled machine. And I trust your husband landed without incident and you're all settled in. Goodbye and goodluck to you both (and I'm sure you can add, "good riddance, CIC".....well, at least if and until citizenship time comes). :)

I requested at the beginning of the october, but somehow there were missing documents (consent mostly).
After I sent the email today and called them, they sent my notes in about 5-10 minutes. :D
I gave all the documents to immigration agent that are needed for PR at the beginning of feb, 2011...but somehow CIC received my documents on may 27th...agent explained it was due to canada post strike...
so basically my application was delayed for 3 month...and during that 3 month...processing time in buffalo for PR was changed from 6 month to 11month...
pheww~~~so frustrating...
new year is coming, and our parents are waiting for us to visit them during chrismas and new year...but I can't even see if the interview was waived or not from notes
argh~~~~~currently I am holding visitor record...(but no visa) should I just go back and visit parents? and wait for the result overseas?? (but it is a little risky in case they request for an interview...)
been laid off like a year...cmon buffalo show us some progress~~~

That doesn't make any sense to me.....if you sent your application in at the beginning of February, there would be no way that the postal strike caused a delay in the processing. The postal strike was about a month between late May and late July, from what I recall, and nowhere near February. CPCM couriers the PR portion abroad via its diplomatic courier, so that doesn't play a role either. And I'm not positive, but I'm sure that Buffalo had a 6 month processing time as early as February. Seems its been at 11 months for some time now. Of course if anyone can attest to it ever being 6 months, I'd love to hear it.

Not to add to your already crappy afternoon, but I think your immigration agent owes you a refund. The Canada Post strike didn't start until June 2, 2011. :-X

As for your other question, I would go if I were you. I doubt they'd set up a last minute interview during the holiday period like that, but then again I'm not CIC so I don't really know. I'm just speculating. My family is coming to Canada this year for the holidays, but if they weren't I'd certainly be going home. It would only have been for 2 weeks or so though, not more than that.

No, it was 11 mths when I sent mine in at the end of February. I distinctly remember my husband being really frustrated when I told him that.

I think I will order it again later on maybe at the beginning of december...

Ecas states same for me. We received your application for permanent residence on July 11, 2011. Medical results have been received.
Maybe you want to order gcms notes to see what exactly is going on with your application.
But you need your file number that buffalo gave you first.
