Yeppers, 1 month has been the norm (actually, there were even cases of sponsors approved much earlier) up until June when the time for step 1 had doubled (and remained there ever since), and I recall seeing on the spreadsheet a total processing time of 60-something days. If it weren't for this forum and trackitt and keeping records like we do, I think CIC wouldn't have its butt put to the fire as much as it does. Whether justified or not, people really do see these radically faster case processings and become even antsier given the contrast with their own wait time. I'm one of them and I totally don't blame them, obvi.

I randomly started reading some of the initial posts on this threat just now (me, bored? why would you ask? ;)) I saw one poster mention that she and her conjugal partner had sponsorship approved in 1 mth, then her PR approved 2 mths later. It took them at a total of 3 mths to get her PR. This was just in 2010. I thought people who got PR in 5 or 6 mths were lucky, but a 3 mth total turn around time? That's just near unbelievable! ::)

That really sucks. I hope it arrives first thing next week. Just out of curiosity - did you end up sending it to Fort Erie or Buffalo?

As for us, Buffalo has had the passport for two weeks now. (Literally, had it. It was delivered there 14 days ago). Our return envelope's tracking hasn't activated yet, either... but you know CanadaPost -- they're about as consistent (perhaps less so) than CIC.

Buffalo (so I *know* it is in Buffalo, not in some limbo between the two places). With a CanadaPost return envelope. It would have been interesting to see if we had included a USPS prepaid, but I didn't want to confuse them too much with the address in Canada. :)

In CIC's defense, they say 15 business days before they mail it back, so they do have all of next week to still meet their stated standard.

The 1 mth for sponsorship didn't surprise me (my husband's sponsorship app took 1 mth pretty much to the day to be processed and approved) it was more the 2 mths for the PR application that shocked me.

Yeah pretty much. Right now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I get my PPR before the new year! Maybe I should record a very special Christmas song for the CIC, "All I want for Christmas is my P-P-R!" Haha!

Thanks for the update, I was wondering about you. I don't know how you tolerate this. Your wait is simply inexplicable and inexcusable. I hope your MP understands this. :-\ Have a good weekend anyway.

There were a few people with similar timelines in early 2011. Basically, if you sent your package to Mississauga in Feb or Mar, you stood a decent chance of an approval that quickly.

If you look at the Family Class tracker at trackitt.com you'll see that there are some people that have received it in about 18 days. Yes, they are the exception and basically it was an "oops" on the part of CIC... but seriously, should we be at all surprised?

As for us, Buffalo has had the passport for two weeks now. (Literally, had it. It was delivered there 14 days ago). Our return envelope's tracking hasn't activated yet, either... but you know CanadaPost -- they're about as consistent (perhaps less so) than CIC.
I wish I was one of the lucky ones.Im still waiting to hear if I have to redo my medicals or not and the letter requesting something for background info they said they sent once before and I never got it.They was suppose to resend it 3 weeks ago and nothing yet.

Well I hope my wife never reads this thread. I'll be divorced! We were actually married in on DEC 31 2010 but didn't send our App in till May. Mostly because of me reading anecdotal evidence that the whole thing only takes a few months. She was coming here (Vegas) in May so I was just having her sign everything then and she was here for for 4 months. So in my head we were in the clear. Seriously biggest mistake of my life.

If you picked up your visa in Buffalo on the day you landed, then we were likely stuffed in the waiting room at the same time. :D
