Love this.

Well, if this process has taught me anything, it's that I shouldn't try to do big, scary things (like applying to a giant government agency to live in another country) in isolation. Really wish I'd known about this forum a year ago, and it's really nice not to be going through it all alone!

Now pass me my cane so I can shake it at those darn kids on our lawn (she says as she reaches across and some tissues fall out of her cardigan cuff)!
Agreed! I don't know how or why I didn't think to look for something like this last year. I only found this forum last month, and it really has been helpful, especially with my morale.

Now take your cane and help me go teach some whipper-snappers a lesson...if only I could get up out of my rocking chair... ;)

He lived in 6 different countries for more than 6months since she turned 18, we got police certificate from 5 of the countries (in total 11 year) and just missing one where he lived from 18 to 22 age. We have applied for the police clearance from that country too but haven't received it yet (it may take a month or so).
End of October we received a letter from Buffalo stating that initial assessment is done and the interview is waived. They didn't mentione anything about missing police certificate. I guess we will be receiving another letter asking for the certificate.

Thank you for your reply, appreciated
Oh hmm...I don't really know what to say. Perhaps someone else can weigh in on whether you should forward the last certificate along or not. I think I would, just to be safe, but it sounds like everything is going well otherwise.

We’ll send the other certificate soon as we receive it. Thank you.

CIC requires that the principal applicant, regardless of age, submit a police certificate for each country he has lived in for 6 consecutive months or more since the age of 18. And those certificates must be less than 3 months old by the time your application arrives at Mississauga. How many countries are we talking about?

My husband is 33 years old and we only gave police certificate for last 10 years, is it acceptable or are they going to ask as to get police certificate sice he turned 18 which is for last 15 years. I am worried the process is going to take longer because of this. Since he worked in different countries it hard to get police certificate for 15 years

See page 8 of the Immigrant's Guide, which applicants should read before completing the Part 2 forms.

The page regarding police certificates doesn't say anything about whether they must be from age 18 onward, or if they can be limited to 10 yr periods, etc. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp).

She mentioned that he'd lived in 6 countries, and that they had 5 of the 6 certificates (I assume that means they have already forwarded them to CIC). They're just waiting on the one for where he lived between the ages of 18 and 22. Apparently though the application is moving along through processing, and the interview has already been waived. I suggested still sending the certificate once they get it, just to make sure the file was complete. What do you think?

LOL, good one :) I guess by that analogy, ndbella is like nursing home old (that person applied in September if you can believe that).

It's okay, come join the old-timer rant circle. We have rocking chairs, canes, lemonade and like to yell at the young kids to get off our lawn! Ah, good times... ;)

Seriously though, fingers crossed for those of us who are getting up there in months that we get PPR very soon!

They filed it June 2 and they're already officially in process and interview waived? May I say I'm jealous. Anyhoo, I'd have to see the GCMS notes. CIC does not skimp on the security and criminality portions of the assessments and even sometimes elaborates its own rules on them (as we know from people on here who ended up having to provide certs even though they lived just shy of 6 months somewhere.......that is why I would even suggest requesting certs for countries where her husband spent a great deal of time, albeit not consecutively.....you know just to appease the gods of inconsistency over there). I really don't see CIC asking for the passport without getting every single certificate they need according to their own regulations. But what countries are we talking about?? It kinda makes somewhat of a difference so hopefully Lulu can answer that.

Is there anywhere online that I can go to get these case notes immediately? Our interview is in 3 weeks in Buffalo.

Also, our interview is on December 7, 2011. We were BOTH asked to appear for the interview and to bring our passports and birth certificates. Is this a good sign? We're excited, nervous, happy and stressed all at the same time...LOL!

No, unfortunately it makes no difference if you order from ATIP directly or through a company charging a lot more.....every request has to deal with ATIP's up to 30-day processing time. What I would suggest is emailing the request and asking for it to be delivered via email, just to cut out the mail portions of the wait. Sorry to hear about the interview. Best of luck. You know about the list of sample questions on the forum, right?

Not sure if it's relevant at the moment bcos all assessment is completed and everything look good. If they need it they will contact you but you can still send it.

When ordering the GCMS Note through email you should request to receive via email too. I will suggest you add a copy of interview letter that way it can be expedite instead of 30days. Goodluck

And y'all were able to request it already? CIC doesn't have much in the way of instructions for Cambodia, understandably, but they say police certificates need to be requested from the Ministry of Justice and foreign residents must present a valid passport and visa and their home and work addresses, as well as pay the applicable fees.
