Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

yeah, I just got my passport back with the visa in it. Funny, but the visa was issued BEFORE they sent me my PPR. (6 days before)

Now, just have to land. Planning on next thursday, but it's become more complicated by the fact that I have to stay in the USA with my car for 3 days beforehand so that I can export the car. But oh well, it'll finally be over then!

eCAS changed to Decision Made on Tuesday. Today is Friday and still no PPR email or letter. Anyone else had to wait this long? I am getting really worried.

Yay! My express post was activated yesterday in Ft. Erie!! It should be here Monday or Tuesday, I'll be landing the following weekend! Woohoo, it's almost over!!

Grats to those who got news! and Good luck to those who are still waiting my heart aches for you guys waiting! I wish a speedy processing and that B'lo picks up it's pace. After I get my visa I probably won't be around much, as I have a 2 week vacation with some friends and holidays, and will be finally working! Phew, what a sigh of relief. I want to thank everybody who has helped along the way, I don't know what I would have done without all the input and advice! Cheers!!

Hi everybody! New to this board and I'm glad I found it. I'm a U.S. citizen whose wife is Canadian. After 18 years of marriage and living in the U.S. we've decided to move to Canada. We sent our application to Mississauga for my PR on Feb. 23. My wife was approved as a sponsor on March 24. We also found out that our 4 year old son is entitled to Canadian citizenship and we've applied for his Proof of citizenship card, so he is good to go. Buffalo received my application on April 7. I have no point of reference as to how quickly or slowly the process is taking. It seems to be moving quickly so far. Can anyone let me know we are experiencing average processing times for PR applications through Buffalo? The only thing I have not had done yet is my medical check up. I was told by the physician doing the exams in my area that he would not give me one until it was requested through Canadian immigration. I'm hoping that one month for sponsorship approval and AOR 2 weeks later is a good sign for a fast process.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to make Canada my home!!!!

Hi Puzzle. Congrats on getting your application moving!

It sounds like things are moving along at a pretty average pace for you so far. A month is good for sponsorship, and two weeks is pretty normal for the new system to get your AOR.

One of our forum members, Sparkle, has created a spreadsheet with the recent timelines for people going through the Buffalo office. You can find it here:

You will probably have a 2-3 month wait at this point to hear from the Buffalo office again, and that will likely be when your application moves to "In Process". When your application moves to In Process they will request your medical. However, it stinks that your doctor wouldn't do it up front because that will likely cause a bit of a delay in your processing.

I do hope that you have fast processing, though! The waiting gets very old, very fast.

Thanks for the quick response, Quakingaspen. I'm mentally prepared to wait for the 11 months it states on the application wait times. Anything sooner is a plus. Luckily, my wife and son are here with me in the U.S and we'll be all going over together when my visa comes through. That will make the wait easier. The spreadsheet is a big help. Glad to see many of the wait times for PPR were shorter than I expected, and I hope those who are still waiting get their visas asap. Hi Puzzle,

We are in almost the same situation as you guys. I am Canadian/U.S. dual citizen, hubby is U.S. citizen and we met and were living in the U.S. for over 15 years before we began the process to move to Canada. We filed our app. at the same time you did, it was received 2/28 and I was approved to sponsor and our file sent around 3/24 but we have not gotten an AOR yet. Just curious, how did you receive your AOR, by email or in the mail?

We applied outland but then moved to Canada since I have a job here and hubby is here on a visitor visa. I agree that it is too bad the physician wouldn't do your medical exam in advance. My husband had his done in Seattle before we mailed the application and it wasn't a problem........of course we just hope it won't expire before the application is processed.......perish the thought!! My kids got their Canadian citizenship cards too.......so glad I didn't have to go through this process with them!

Duh, I just checked the website and it does state that our application was received in Buffalo on April 7th......yay! I guess I was expecting an email but I never got one.

PPR to my husband's e-mail this morning!!!!!

We are so excited. It's really sinking in. My husband was going to go back to Kentucky TODAY but now we're going to go to Buffalo tomorrow!

Does anyone have experience going there with their hubby/wife to land? Will they let me go in with him? I want to be there when they say "Welcome to Canada".

Looks like we are on the same timeline. I find out about my AOR through the CIC website. My wife received a letter that my PR file was transferred to Buffalo on 3/24 and the when checking the application status on the CIC website we found out they recevied it on Apri 7. You may want to check your husbands status online. I've yet to get an official e-mail or mail, but they definitely have it.

I was perplexed as to why the physician would not give me my physical ahead of time. It seems that almost everyone is able to do that. I was told they need an official request from Canadian immigration. I just hope it doesn't delay the process too much. It was great to find out our son would just need to get his citizenship card. It does save us a lot of hassle as I'm sure you know. We initially went through the process of getting PR for him and paid the appropriate fee. CIC informed us it was unnecessary, he was already a citizen, and promptly refunded the fee. I hope everything continues to move as quickly.

Glad to hear you are already in Canada. We need to stay in the U.S. and continue to work until my visa comes through. Luckily, we already have a house set to move into when that time comes. It should make the transition a bit smoother. Good luck with your husband's visa application. I hope we both get a PPR very soon!

P.S. Just saw your last post. Congrats on the AOR! If all goes well maybe your husband and I will get our visas at the same time!
