Pmary make your application solid and submit plenty of evidence and apply through Manila. You have the option to remain here and continue working which is better than most. Chances are you wouldnt have an interview anyways but you never know.

if you have a work permit for Canada then you should not risk having your application closed by sending it to the US where you may not be able to get a visa. File through your own country or inland since you are already able to work in Canada. The reason that people file Outland (generally) is because they want to lessen the time that they are unable to work or be apart from their spouse. You have both... There is no way to ensure that you arent going to have to spend time away from your husband unless you go inland.

Thank you for your advices. I hope I can make a decision very soon. So you told me if I apply from my home country I can stay in Canada as long as I have a valid work permit?

You can stay as long as you have been legally given time to stay... however long that is. You can work as long as you have a valid work permit. If you need a visa to be in Canada it is your responsibility to ensure that you have it.

Ok all...I have been following this feed because I am going to have to go thru the Buffalo process. I got married in July of this year and we have been together since September of 2008. This may come across as a stupid question but what is an AOR?? We have so much information to file, to prove our relationship, everything is gathered up, the only thing holding up our application right now is the $550 as I have been off work on a medical leave since the first of September.

Glad to see everyone processing quicker than stated on the CIC site, and wish SaugaBoss and everyone else waiting luck, and hopefully they will come thru as the best Christmas present ever!!

Thanks in advance to those who can help me!!!

Hey everyone...it's been a while since I wrote (and, surprise, since I've heard any updates regarding my application).

Anyone else with similar dates to me still waiting their PPR from Buffalo?

Hello again.

Been a while since I've been on. Dralon best wishes just before the holidays! I hope you get an approval, wouldn't that be the best present?! heh. Anyways, no news on my end. I'm just almost finished putting together the additional information that the IO requested. I am hoping to mail it by Monday, but am waiting on a few more things to fall into place before I can do that. So hopefully next Friday at the latest. Then hopefully I won't have to wait much longer.

My father called me last night, and asked if under my circumstances if I would be able to leave BC and come back home. I asked him why, my grandmother is in the hospital for being super sick. Apparently her white blood cell count is extremely low. It may be leukemia, or bone marrow disease, worst case scenario. She's been vomitting blood, and won't eat or drink. I'm super upset about this, and am torn to leave BC and risk not being able to return until I get my visa, or to stay and miss out on possibly the last Christmas with her :(

I'm sooo stressed about this. Why do they make it so difficult for the good people?! (sorry little ranting there..)

Hi,

I'm asking this question on this thread as there are many of us that are on the same situation....How do I forward my husbands mail from a US address to a Canadian address through USPS? I tried going to their website and it only accepts a US forwarding address but I remember someone saying that mail can be forwarded to a Canadian address. It'll save us time and such. Thanks!

OK another stupid question that I have come up with....My hubby is coming up for Christmas, and as I said before we have all the paperwork in order. The only thing that he has been unable to start because every time he plans on starting it, he gets put on 10 to 12 hour shifts and then cant get it done is the FBI clearance. Can we start the FBI, but still send in the application as my parents have chosen to put money towards all the fees for us as a Christmas present, and send in the FBI clearance when we get it back??

Thanks again, I am so frustrated, and antsy to get this started and hubby here with the family!!

@jancath410: had the same situation. Just went into one of the post offices and they handed out a small envelope with the form to fill out by hand and some coupons. The forward first-class mail to a canadian address.

@stumpedmom: Since the FBI record takes at least 8 weeks, I would hurry up to get this done. We had most of our application ready to be send but waited the extra few weeks to get the "no record certificate" from the FBI. If you do not include it in your application the first time it only would delay your application.

kerianne, I am so sorry to hear that. Good luck making your decision and I wish you the best. Let's hope that things are not as bad as they seem for your grandma and that she makes a full and quick recovery.

* * *

And please, rant away about them seeming to make things harder for the good people. You are preaching to the converted! I have been known to make those rants myself. In fact, I made one to my hubby just yesterday afternoon! I am phrasing this lightly, but venting can be an important part of getting through this process.

@ jancath410 - hope the following helps. I asked at the postal office yesterday again and they confirmed.

its a half letter size card and on the left lower corner it says: PS FORM 3575 September 2010

There is also some explanation in the FAQ on the USPS Homepage:

How do I file a Change of Address for an International address?

If you are moving to an International address outside of the United States, you will need to fill out the same Change of Address (COA) form (PS Form 3575) that is filed for a domestic move at your local Post Office™.

If you forget to submit a COA prior to moving to an International address, you can write a letter to your old Post Office in the United States and the Post Office now serving your new international address explaining the situation. Provide direction on how and where you need mail forwarded. The letter should also include as many details asked on the PS Form 3575 (Change of Address Form) as possible.

Please Note: If you are filing a Change of Address from another country to the United States you will need to contact the postal service of the country you are moving from."
