Thread for November 2010 applications

i just called up and immigration consultant today to get some info on the controversial issue of sponsor visiting a spouse back home and staying there, and what could be the possible impact that could have on the case itself!!

Now i floated this question this morning for debate, some ppl shared some great info but even they werent sure about that either!

Some argued that it takes longer time for spouses to get visas if sponsors visit them and stay with them, because CHC- already knows the whereabouts of the sponsor exits and entry into canada.

The consultant told me that CIC- is under the strict order of the minister of CIC jason kenny not to hold a case unnecessarily!!!

And that i doesn't impact the delays in the application process!!

Now my problem is folks that im more confused then ever, can anyone guide me if i should contact CIC canada itself or talk to MP about this? I will still float this question for further debate, your comments in this matter will be highly appreciated folks.

Oh boy,
I'm quite depressed.

The email reply from Sydney immigration office said they have no record of receiving my police check or driving history report.

I'd taken a photocopy of the reports (but not certified) so therefore I can't use them as they are firm on wanting originals.

So I resign to call the police and all but beg for another "original". They tell me that they can't redo an original but since my fingerprints were done so recently to come down directly and do the paperwork and pay for the name check only and they can match it up with the fingerprints. Of course when I get into the city they tell me that I have to do the entire thing again!!! Aghghgh! It's just stressful because I had to take a precious half day off work again and more money and waiting to get it done. The driving history I don't mind so much, will arrive sooner and is less than $10.

Here we are again, the good old waiting game. I'm paranoid there will be more issues with this police check or it could get lost in the post again. Can't give up hope though. Anyone else seen the film "127 hours"? I saw it last night, how inspiring, reminds me to try to stay calm and trust it will work out exactly as it is supposed to.

Oh bloody hell that totally sucks... just make sure to keep certified copies next time... I know that's not a lotta help, but these VOs are horrid with misplacing stuff and you never know how many times they will mess up through this whole damn process..

Again so sorry to hear this... How long is it gonna take for everything to come thru canadianyogi? and do u have the option of handing it in directly at ur VO??

We mailed our originals the first time around (registered post) and they still lost it and the second time around my husband went in, stood in like for 4 hours and handed it in. Our VO sucks! so you may not have such a hard time in Aussi. either way, fingers crossed! keep us posted!

I received this response to my email inquiry to Buffalo about that status of my file.

"e-Cas is for applications processing within Canada only.


Immigration cases being processed in Visa offices outside Canada use a system different from that used to process similar applications in Canada. As a result, the e-Client Application Status (e-CAS) does not reflect the status of cases being processed in Buffalo."

I thought e-CAS is for everyone? I'm confused.

Hello,
I was trying to figure out how to put a signature thingy on the end of my posts that has updates on my progress but I couldn't figure out how. Anyway I thought I would send a note and let you know that I sent my application in late November (21st or 22nd I think). We were approved for sponsorship on December 21st. We never got an AOR but online it says they started processing my application on February 3rd. We are applying outland through Buffalo.

An email I received this morning,

Thank you for your email.

We have received your VicRoads certificate and your Victoria Police certificate issued against name & fingerprints.

Current outstanding documents are
etc.
On receipt of these documents your application will be forwarded to a Visa Officer for review. We will contact you if further information or documents are required.

Oh boy, thank you dear immigration. There's no way I can be reimbursed the day of panic and cost of running around organising all this information again. It's just another funny lesson from life. All will be well in th end and happen exactly as it should!

(I’m using the dates that are on the letters).

AOR - Acknowledgement of Receipt – the first official document that says the application for permanent residence status has been received.
PPR – Passport request – Immigration requests passport when they are ready to issue the visa.
DM - Decision made (waiting on letter to confirm)

Oh how frustrating but at least they found them and you shouldn’t be as delayed as you would be waiting for the new set.
All will not be in vain…keep the new copies as many Canadian employers want criminal records checks when you apply for a job so you may still be able to use that. Insurance companies won’t normally recognise the driving record but you could always try when you get your car insurance over there.
Everything does happen for a reason even if we can’t see what that reason will be! Glad all is sorted out for you and here is hoping you get your decision made and passport request very soon!
