Yep! You can travel down there and hand it to them. This is a long post from someone else, but I found it interesting and very informative about the process. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/search-results/-t41886.0.html;msg458102;topicseen#msg458102

Hello everyone,

I would like to hear your opinion or own experience about one thing. What if I travel back to Canada (Im in Lithuania right now) and had only one-way ticket: to canada? The reason I want to buy one way ticket is that I believe I would receive PR sooner or later while in canada and I would land just maiking a short trip to US and back. So there is no sence for me to buy return ticket to Lithuania (I was always buying return) because I don't know when I would go back there in the future.
Do you think immigration officers in airport would know that I dont have ticket back and would it be a problem if I said I will buy one later? My status in canada would be visitor and we don't need visa to travel to canada. Would they know that I applied for PR and that my file still in process?
Hope someone can answer from experience by traveling with one way ticket.

Sorry, Maja, I don't have very good advice for you about that. The best I can tell you is that although they won't be able to check and see if you have a return ticket, they may ask you for proof of a return ticket. You might want to just get a round trip ticket and not use the other portion. Generally they are not more expensive, and you may receive less hastle from immigration. I can also tell you that they can check to see if your application is in process. I don't know if that information immediately pops up on their screen when they enter your passport information, but they can check for it.

Any other advice from you guys?

Also, someone posted a link to this thread in another thread today, and I wanted to make sure all of you had the chance to see it. It really has GREAT information about the landing process. I found it very helpful and informative.

Here are some other links related to landing that you may find helpful:

Since we will all hopefully be needing SIN (Social Insurance Numbers) applications, here is a link to the application for that:

quakingaspen... Thanks for the links. Definitely will come in handy!!!

And I've offically had over 1 day log in time on this site...since I joined (I was a lurker for ages before I actually joined :D

Now...fingers crossed that they husbands passport is returned this week with a visa (almost 4 weeks London has had it)...my husband is getting twitchy about where it is!

Here's hoping that you Buffalo people start getting PPRs! :)

Thanks for all the links Quakeningaspen...they will come in handy.

So I know its premature, but I have been trying to plan where to land. We are importing 2 paid for vehicles and a 24ft trailer. Can we cross anywhere (Ontario) or is there just one landing point for importing vehicles? Thought I read somewhere that you had to use one point of entry but cant remember where I saw it.

Thanks and good luck to everyone this coming week!
Kaz

Hi guys. :) I'm not sure if you have to cross at a particular point. I haven't read anything about that. If you look at the list of places you can land (link above), each crossing has a list of services that are offered at that particular place. Maybe car imports are listed? Just remember to export your vehicles too, and that they (the US side) wants 3 days notice before you arrive with your vehicles to export them.

hehe I know it's a bit premature, but as you can see I'm relaxing on my weekend, and not obsessing about immigration at all.

Yep.

Not at all.

;D

Kaz, I just did a little looking around to see where that service is offered. It may fall under "Designated Commercial Office" (Office which provides 24 hour service - 7 days a week, for the reporting and clearing of commercial goods). These are the crossings that offer that service.

If not, here's the list of Services, with links to the offices that provide them. Hope that helps a little!

Wow, this guy seems incredibly bitter! And impatient... From everyone I've talked to, patience is key with landing, just as it is with every other step in the process... Ah well. ::)

The other links are going to be very helpful. Thanks for finding them! (and saving us all a bit of searching, hah!) :D

Hi everyone,

Its more then two months now that my file has been transfered to Islamabad VISA Office. E-Cas still have the status "Application Recieved". I have wrote an email to CHC-ISB and the reply is that application is in queue, with no time line. Medical has already been done and no other verification needed as my daughter is 18 months old.

How long it can take? Or it generally takes for young dependant kids from Pakistan office?

Now my family is getting impatient :(

Thanks,
Asif

hehe I think he was trying to be funny more than bitter, but different people have different senses of humor!

Good luck this week, guys! I'm hoping for some more AOR's. Maybe even today! :)

Ok, maybe not bitter, but definitely a complainer, haha!

I would imagine there should be more AORs today. My e-cas was finally active yesterday (I was really surprised, being a Sunday). According to e-cas, my application has been in Buffalo since January 26th. I'm hoping now that they *appear* to have the backlog moving again, things will really speed up!

Fingers crossed for those still waiting. Positive vibes, everyone! 8)

yes, lets hope for speediness from buffalo now and lots of news this week!! :D
