haha We sent lots of pictures, letters, e-mail... But if we were to send our application today, we wouldn't send as much papers as we sent - it was too much.

Well I'm sure the IO's will appreciate that more than if you had sent too little! :) No harm done, I'm sure.

Just out of curiosity (I really should ask any questions here, sometimes they worry me more than ever - ignorance can be bliss!), how many of you here used a co-signer and for those who did, who did you use to co-sign? :)
We did not use a co-signer. I think it doesn't apply for spousal sponsorship, am I right? I think it would apply when sponsoring a child, or parents...

I didn't read anywhere that it didn't apply for spousal sponsorship, but perhaps I missed something. We didn't use one either, didn't really feel it was necessary in our case.

I just checked e-CAS for the last time tonight; it's after 6pm there so I assume the office is long closed and that means another weekend we won't hear anything (at least). Oh well :/

If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me, but I don't remember reading that it "doesn't apply" (with those words), only that there is no minimum income to sponsor a spouse, as long as the sponsor is not on welfare.

But for sponsoring parents or a child, I think there is a minimum income requirement.

Hi,

Why doesn't your spouse apply for a visitor visa? I applied for one, got the visa, and stayed with my husband during the whole processing time. :) This way you don't need to be apart. But he/she won't be able to work while on a visitor visa.

Can you describe quickly for me how difficult it is to do this and what you need to do to apply? Because I'm starting to think that we'll need to do something like that - I have to leave Denmark in May 2010 regardless because my visa here runs out so May is definitely our moving month, but it doesn't look like this application will be 100% processed by then, so a visitor visa looks like a probable option for us. But what exactly does it entitle the visa holder to?

And there we were, thinking we had done everything in such great time, starting applying in September... the panic started to set in once I saw that it took us two months alone to complete the application pack, let alone the fact that they haven't even started looking at the application until December, just 6 months away from our moving date!

I think we have our wires crossed... minimum income and co-signers are two different things! You don't have to have a co-signer, but some people do need to submit proof of income to pass the "minimum income" rules. Not sure if all spousal sponsorships are exempt from this, after I realised we didn't have to do that part I stopped reading! Haha.

There are no co-signers for spousal sponsorships as there is no financial requirement.

Have they banned TickerFactory countdowns in forum signatures? Because mine has disappeared from my sig and I notice others who had them before no longer have them. Just wondering...

I'm from a country whose citizens need a visitor visa to enter Canada, this is not the case for citizens of Denmark. You can see it here:

Visitor Visa Exemptions
Many people do not require a visa to visit Canada. These include:

I know minimum income and co-signer are two different things. And neither one is necessary for spousal sponsorships.

A co-signer is needed when somebody is sponsoring other relatives (parents, for example), but doesn't meet the minimum income requirements for sponsoring this relative. In this case, the person can have his/her spouse to co-sign the sponsorship to add his/her income too. :)

My e-cas status says -Application Processed and Decison made the same day on Dec 9th. I'm nervous as sponsorship application processing and decision made are on the same day and I fear rejection. Can they approve sponsorship in the same day?

Hi, my wife's sponsorship for me was processed and decision made on the same day. I would take that they have made a decision so quickly means that there was no problems and it all went through fine. I would think if there was a problem, they would ask for more information or something, and thus it would take longer.

Stay strong, I am sure your result will be positive.
