does anyone know if im able to visit my husband in egypt while the application is being processed?

if you're the sponsor, and a canadian citizen, you can travel. But you might want to make sure someone is watching the mail for you, to avoid delays if your visa office sends you any requests for more information.

If you are a canadian PR, you must stay in Canada while the application is processed.

Hey guys,

Do any of you think that those new "refugees" in B.C. are going to slow down our sponsorship applications, well those of us who have not been processed yet?

I'm just curious about what you all think.

Take Care,
Hy and Core

not in the least. applying for refugee status is completely different than applying for family-class PR. I don't think that the number of applicants really noticeably or measurably slows down processing for anyone else. You could argue that with so many immigrants applying to come to Canada, processing times are slower, but sponsorships are being approved at CPC-M in 30 days, and there's no way to compare, on a case-by-case basis processing time at outside visa offices -- every case is different. And the vast majority of people on this site are approved well within the timelines as stated on the CIC website.

I don't expect that I would be able to access ECAS yet but just to make sure I'm doing it right: I don't have a case number yet, just the online payment reciept (Rxxxxxxxxx)... so I can enter that right? And does the R need to be capitalized or anything picky like that?

That is how I accessed it. I did capitalize it, I think it was picky. Using my sponsors information in the bottom.
It did take 3 days from the day the 'decision made' for it to show up on Ecas though, but they also did so on a Friday - which may or may not have affected it as I've heard 2 days later on various posts.

I even tried at like 8pm on the 2nd day - hubby was on the phone with his mom who lives back in Canada and I hoped to be able to tell her that part was over with - we'd know what the result was soon, but couldn't see till the following morning. I wonder if it updates a midnight.

I just copy and pasted from my receipt that was saved to my desktop on the computer, so yes, the R was capitalized. Not sure if it needs to be, but in my case, it was.

I can't log in today! But it's Tuesday! I'm not cut out for this kind of waiting.

I got my DECISION MADE letter in the mail today. Hubby was approved (of course) and the application was forwarded to Buffalo.

I made Sponsorship approval & Transfer combined.

I thought "AOR" was the letter Buffalo sends you when they receive your application, not the letter we receive from Mississauga - so I thought no one from July would have an AOR for at least another month.

you are correct. The AOR will come with a sheet of barcode stickers and you'll have a B-number for all correspondence through Buffalo.

Congrats!!! Here's hoping that I hear in the next week, then, since my application was received the week after yours!! Man, I wish they'd update the CPC-M processing times....

Perhaps. Hmm.

The letter I got today indicates it's the acknowledgment of receipt.

Do you get the Buffalo letter when they start processing or before that?

It appears that the home address for my husband in ECAS is listed as Mississagua's address! :(
It wont' let me change it in ECAS, only to a in Canada address.

It does have our home address listed correctly though and we got our letter today and it's obvious we don't live at the CPC :)
