Changing wife surname in Indian Passport after marriage - Inside Canada

No wonder every fuc$ing Indian embassy/office is fuc$ed up.... Jesus Christ, how many useless forms and documents...

I think figured out how to change the name in the wife's passport once she lands in Toronto ( only surname )

http://in.vfsglobal.ca/passports.aspx

They say they require
-If the marriage took place in India the original marriage certificate needs to attested from the Attestation Cell, Patalia house in Delhi. Photocopy of the original, may be accepted.

I am from chennai..wtf is Attestation Cell, Patalia house in Delhi? is it like Taj Mahal so every indian knows it? do i take a cab and go there all the way...
funny these dumb a$$es don even maintain a website which is helpful to people...

and i did my research and i think they have brances in most states...
http://www.mea.gov.in/mystart.php?id=8801

So anyone planning to do the same after landing, please note.
Comments welcome, i think i figured the puzzle..useless A$$ websites these guys have.

Okay ! so i go to this place called RTA office.. and these guys are not aware of any letter which is issued on the basis of your driving record.. All i was given was a Driving license particulars.. The same matter thats on the DL was put on papers and signed by the authority..

Is that of any help ? Should i get an International license ? I need to ensure that i am not asked to wait for G2 when i land ???

The documents you got wont help you, it has to be in a format which some main RTO's have. It will state your experience in the last 24 months or so, so in Ontrio most likely they will not accept what you got today. My friend did the same thing in 2010 and he got the letter from an Indian RTO like what you have and went to the Licence office and i told him its of now use, he tried and they said, BAD luck, when can we book your G1 !

Personal advice.. if you have not driven in US/CANADA before, your chances of failing G2 on first attempt is 99.99% and within 2 mins before you backup the car...... without training and driving here...its jus added cost for each G2 test.
Your international licence is of no use in Ontario.

ohh and add $300-400 insurance per month if you are a new driver in Toronto ( with a decent car )...Kills you..the insurance in GTA ! :'(

Good luck.

My wife already has G2 and I was just planning to go with the required experience letter. Once i land i would take few driving classes and then attempt for the test.

I just do not know why doesn't the RTO know what to give, when i ask for the driving experience or driving record :S
