Thanks people! *gets back to work* :D

Hi Guys,

Wifey received the passport with a shiny new visa. Thank you all on this forum...everyone has been a tremendous help. Congratulations to those who made it through and a speedy visa to all those undergoing the process.

Special shout out to Fprince, DNT2003 and Panda for your help throughout the process. When I started, I was new to the process and did not anything about the workings at Delhi...now 4 and a half months later, after completion of this journey and a constant devotee of this forum...I still feel like I know nothing about the workings at Delhi. However, without the companionship of all those in this forum the journey would have been much more difficult to endure....I am grateful that in most occasions Delhi over achieves from what is stated on their website...i.e. 6 months. I hope for all those undergoing the process..they also over achieve for you.

Hello All,
After entering the 7th month of processing my ecas is updated. I hope this is good news and will be positive.
I want to wait until she gets the passport back to celebrate, still not 100% comfy with CHC ND.
All your support throughout these months have really kept me cool.

We received your application for permanent residence on January 4, 2011.

We started processing your application on February 15, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.

Big Congrats.... After long long waiting you ND finalised in quickly after sending you PP.. BIG CONGRATS..

Hey HopefulWaiting, Congratulations!!!

Very well said. It's almost impossible to figure out how New Delhi works. It's always a matter of luck.
The waiting game is tough. Thanks to this forum and support from fellow members, without which life would have been so tough. I am now a constant devotee of this forum.

HopefullWaiting - where is your wife located?

Just want to estimate how long registered mail takes from ND to reach various locations.

Hello everyone!
My wife is a canadian citizen and we got married in Feb 2011. I am from India. We have sent file to missisauga on 17th and reached on 18th march 2011, they started processing file and apporoved it on 19th april and 29th april they received file at new delhi. On 11th may 2011 they sent me letter and i received on 19th may and they asked for my pcc, landing fee and passport and i sent my passport.
Now my questions are:
1. How long will they take to issue me a visa? The status ecas showing APPLICATION RECEIVED.
2. Why they asked the passport exactly for? What do they do after receving the passport. Is there any chance of interview after I sent my passport.
3. When is the time when interview is scheduled?

Please help! Your help would be greatly appreciated!!

the actual timing on issuing a visa is varied... its been anywhere from 2weeks after asking for the passport to several months. unfortunately there is no standard time. but be positive!

some visa officers ask for your passport at the beginning of the process so that when everything is done they have your passport to stamp the visa . there is still a chance for an interview.... submitting your passport does not waiver the requirement. of course each case is unique.

if you do have to attend an interview you should receive a postal mail/ ecas should be updated with this info

Good Luck!

cdngrl/asurania,

Just curious, where city is the applicant from?
They usually post the PP in batches..so am assuming you guys will get it first as i am far far south.

Hello sam and welcome to this thread, thanks for posting your time line, I'll add you to the table later when I do my next update.

Question 1:
Very frank answer to your question, no one knows, they work very randomly, but 60% chances you will have your passport stamped with visa and you will get your passport back before end of June! (my estimate)

Question 2:
They ask for passport so they can issue you visa on it. They stamp the passport with the visa and will send it back to you. No idea what the do after they get your passport (usually they wait on it, and keep us all thinking of whats going on, also they play games with us. There is a chance of interview even after you submit your passport, but I say 10% chances of interview.

Question 3:
They usually schedule interview withing 1-2 months after they've received your file in your case they've got your file on the 18th of March, April 18, May 18 that is two months over, so I say for you chances of 1% you may be called for interview. And (maybe) they will put in eCAS if there is an interview, also they WILL send you the letter which tells you place of interview, date, and time.

Welcome, and enjoy the ride!!!!

My Estimate for you is: Check your eCAS on Fathers Day, and you shall see the good news :)

my file reached delhi on 29th april 2011................

1. however i would like to know if there is an interview scheduled, does is show on Ecas website that interview has been scheduled or not or they just send the letter for interview?

2. if they have to refuse the visa does they ask for the passport?

3. can they refuse the visa without interview? if yes, under what circumstances?

Dude, relax and calm down..You can not start thinking about this, too early.
Why are you thinking about a rejection? do understand everyone is nervous, until you get the PP with Visa anything is possible.

1. It shows up on ecas or they send a letter or both
2. They still need the PP to reject sometimes, usually they wont reject without an interview for this office.
3. Not heard abt this in this thread, interview rate has been 100% pass in 2011.
