when I try to login on ecas it doesnt say system maintenance or anything...
just when you go to put the age and country in there blank boxes...

True but there is some system maintenance going on, I wouldnt trust their timings of
"NOTE: Due to regular maintenance, CIC online services will not be available:
Saturday, May 14, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. EST to 10:00 a.m. EST
Sunday, May 15, 2011, from 12:00 a.m. EST to 6:00 a.m. EST"

Sometimes these things take longer, mayb they will update things on Monday because of this, hopefully with a lot of good news!! dont distress!!

Yes and you should also send them your flight tickets, entry stamp on your passport just to be safe.
The key is that they should know that you are now in India and not in Aus...
and..mailing address, toronto is fine...your parents address might be a bit quicker.

Mine took 20 days to reach me coz my rep (lawyer) was in canada i guess its ok.... i was scared of changing my address on ecas because i didnt want ND to be confused with anything, but once they received my PP, they updated my mailing address by themselves on ecas, so mayb they do have some idea of what they are doing........
i guess 20 days late, but it came through, don know what will happen if u change it mid process guess let it stay the same....

I dunno yet wht I am gonna do.... I might just advice them that I am in India and send them airtickets and stamps copy as fprince said..... and then go with the flow....

This is a positive sign. I think they are working on your file and they have received your passport. There is a high probability to get decision made status within a 1 week. I know it's hard to say how New Delhi prioritizes and approves cases, but you are very close.

Just Saw Ecas and it says "in process"

We received your application for permanent residence on April 5, 2011.

We started processing your application on May 11, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

Any suggestions. how long it will take from here?

Its true you dont need to be physically present in the country the application is being processed. You will need to find a way to send your passport to india when u receive a PPR and (lets really hope its not needed) if you are called for an interview. But if u were planning to move back to India for sometime i guess its ur choice in the end. a simillar thing happened to me too... I was in Aus and came back to India, luckily enough for me my process didnt take more than a few months so its time well spent with my family and friends here.
Just make sure you give ur Indian address (actually they send PPR anywhere, mine was sent to toronto) so u get ur PPR on time...

Not sure if that will always work out...let's say someone chose to continue residing/working in Australia (or any other country for that matter) and then sends in their passport when PPR is received. What happens if ND calls for an interview after that? How do you fly from Australia to India (and potentially back to Australia after the interview) without a passport?

So, unless there is a way to travel without passport, I think in cases like this you have no choice but to move to India before PPR. Otherwise you risk not being able to attend the interview.

I hope after the maintenance, the e-CAS will give some meaningful status update. The way it is working now is absolutely useless. For some people status goes straight from "Application Received" to "Decision Made". In some cases they request PP, but the status says application received.

I hope they change these things and lot's good news on Monday.

It should go well. But they may take longer to do BC since you lived in Australia for a long time, you need to be prepared for that (I hope they don't do that though).

Other than that, if your case is straight forward you should be OK. All the best

They can not call a NRI for an interview after PPR. That is not logical and i am sure the Indian Govt knows this.

First of all if you have a look at the CHC ND office website the protocols to be followed in a spousal sposorship is as follows
File creation>interview>PPR>Visa

ND does not follow this for indian citizens where they have been doing PPR then interview...they hold on to passports for a long time..
The manual says that when you are requested a PPR it usually means that interview is waived but this is not the case....we have seen lots of ppl with interview after PPR..but never seen a NRI.

This case is rare with the file transfer to ND..looks like they are very strict these days to process IND citizen sponsorship...
