Xyrus My case was reached new Delhi on the 2nd December 2009 since then it has been in process. I revecived a letter asking for my passport in mid December 2009.

My wife has asked her local m.p (in Canada) to email them 4 times. Once the m.p told us they are doing background checks and second we will contact you if we need and doucments. We have no had intereview.

The only documents i have send in is when i got a phone call ask me if i have been involved in a court case. I said no and I send a letter from the courts saying I had a clean record.

Do you know how long a background check takes????

And what should I do now.

My medical expires on the 16th OCTOBER 2010.

I think I should email but my wife said that m.p should email and it looks better!!!!!!!!! :-[

That's tough buddy! As you will see myself and Xyrus are the only ones left from the beginning of time! My case is also getting delayed as some "background checks" are being completed. I spent 8 years in Canada, for study and work...I'm guessing they are looking into previous apps, etc, etc...quick question...

have u traveled abroad? Did you submit the police clearance initially...

I suggest call them ASAP to get some answer!

Good luck!

@Jason - just another thought...Oct 15 is barely a week away....IF you don't get an answer by then...I would suggest to get ur medicals redone and keep em handy just to be proactive and avoid any further delays....you know they wont let you land on expired medical!

Keep us posted!

Hey Minku9 and Xyrus

I have travelled abroad twice to the u.k and twice to thailand.

I did submit a police clearance.........

I was involved involved in a court case which my solicitor told me not to mention on the application form. Somehow the cic have got to know about this.

But I have send a letter from the court saying that I clear and have no case going on.

Also my wife's parents were not happy that we wanted to marry each. So we got married in the U.K that is where her parents attended the wedding. But when we filled the application form we did not mention this and said we got married in India where her parents attended... When they called be the lady asked who attended the wedding I said everyone. I failed to tell her that her parents did not, because my wife filled in the application that they did..

My Solicitor is the one who told me that i may only a get a visa for a few days and he has seen many case where people only get up to only 2 days to leave India.

My wife is so scared to call the c.i.c or to email them do you think I should e mail instead... The m.p has never shown my wife the reply he has gotten from c.i.c. He says he only get phone calls from them..

I miss my wife so much all see does is cry the phone I feel so helpless. My wife is in so much pain and I cannot do anything..

If the c.i.c was going to refuse the case should they have done this my now...

Very sad to read your post Jason! Hope there is some divine intervention at this point and you both re-unite at the earliest! I'm sorry but you shouldve been honest about you getting married in UK and about her parents not attending the wedding.

Sorry for getting personal but something similar happened in my case! All I can tell you is that we were honest about it and put down each and every detail in the app. At least we are not losing sleep over it now! We had a civil wedding at the City Hall in Canada!

I wish you are granted the visa at the earliest but if given a chance, I seriously suggest you to be absolutely honest! Either way, it'll take long but at least your stress levels will come down and it won't get messy!

I feel very sad because we were in a similar situation! GOD Bless!

I can understand how you must be stressed now, regardless, you cant change it now and it's water under the bridge! You just have to wait and see what they say....regardless, I wish you guys good luck and hope you guys get to see each other sooner than later!
There is a 2 year ban for misrepresentation from Canada under IRPA, don't mean to scare you but you may want to look into it! Lets hope for the best!

Hey Guy

I know you are right I should have not lied. My solicitor said that they had no way of finding out my wife parents not attending the wedding or that i had been involved in a court case so long as I had a clean record now!!!!

I know it is no excuse I should have know better...

What I do not understand is why they are taking so long???????? :(

Do you think I should e mail them as my wife is too scared????

I hope you both get your visa soon..

I will keep you posted.

GOD BLESS :D

Hello Guys,

How are you all doing? Hope things are moving according to your wishes. Today I have some good news to share with you all, My wife received the request for passport. It has taken them 20 days to open the file and issue us the request. The request landed today (8th of October). From this, we can say, it takes 4 days for the mail to reach Bangalore from New Delhi. The request asked for the following
1: Right of Permanent resident fee (Landing fee).
2: Fee

I have one question, how do you pay this fee?
Can I (Sponsor) pay this fee online to the Mississauga office directly. I would appreciate if some one actually guides me here.

Thank you.

Time Line :
Sponsorship applied : 16th August, 2010
Sponsorship approved: 14th September, 2010
File transferred to New Delhi: 14th September, 2010
Request for Passport:4th October, 2010

Bhartha,
This is a standard preformatted PPR letter. I think, you would already have paid that fee while you applied for sponsorship in mississauga. If you see the letter closely and find that there is a key word "If not already paid" next to the PR Fee, then only you should bother about paying this fee.
Did you pay CAD 1040 when you applied for sponsorship or did u pay less ? If you paid, CAD 1040, then you do not have to bother

Okay, I paid, 550 Canadian dollars only.

Hence they are asking for the rest. Now, how do I Pay them the rest. Guide me please.

You would need to pay Rs 21,440 or CAD 490 via bank draft in favor of "Canadian High Commission" or "Receiver General for Canada" payable at New Delhi.

And - You cannot pay online at CIC website. That is only for CIC Mississauga. Now you have to pay to New Delhi.
