There you go yug...
1. Have your spouse fill out form, IMM5475
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/index.asp

Thank you Shamsia, I have been looking for this info for long :)

sounds like they are asking for the basic check so just provide what they ask. its enhanced check where they ask for everything. i am assuming you are applying for a job and this is one of the requirements, follow what they ask as each job has its own requirements.

just a heads up, they probably list this on the job opening as well that federal gov't will give preference to citizens first and if they cannot find a suitable candidate then they will consider PR candidates.

@ singhson
its just relaibility status check for working with fed govt.
they only asked me my last 5 years of residential address
they never asked for work experience info, no education info . Only addresses for last 5 years where i have stayed was captured.

i dont know how they are going to do the educational, date of birth and work experience check.

@singhson

I have already been hired and working but there is no such preference kind of thing.
but yes, i was just capturing some info to have an idea about the process and how it works.
its just for knowledge sake.

Hello, everyone:

Could someone give me advice on two questions related to the forms:

1. IMM 0008 Generic application - the last question on page 2 asks if the PR applicant has a national identity document. Would a birth certificate or baptism certificate qualify in this category? I'm not sure because my husband is Indian but his birth and baptism certificates were issued by institutions in Kuwait, where he was born. Since both certificates were issued by non-Indian authorities, would they qualify as "national identity documents"? If not, is there anything else he could submit instead - a copy of his voter's card or driver's license perhaps?

2. IMM 5490 Sponsored spouse questionnaire - question 8 asks if the PR applicant has family in Canada, and if so, to list their names and addresses. Is it considered necessary or useful to include proof of the relatives' status in Canada - PR card, citizenship card or passport copy?

Thanks very much in advance.

Congrats Kannadiga

- I do not remember exactly, but I think we put license number.

- Yes. it is not mandatory, but including them won't hurt for sure. I would enclose a copy just to be on safe side.

I believe you know what "family" means for Canadian immigration purpose.

For question-1: I answered the applicant does not have a National Identity Document. Myself (sponsor) and my wife (sponsored person, principle applicant) are Indian citizens born in India. We do not have a National Identity Document yet in India. The only national identity document we have is passport and that is being submitted anyways !

I remember I had a similar question when I was applying for my PR under FSW category, and I answered No as I am an Indian citizen.

National Identity document in other countries (including Canada) is citizenship card.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_national_identity_card_policies_by_country

It states India doesn't have a National Identity Card yet...
And useful info about other countries.
