How are you??

I am good, it was sunny day here no rain no snow, temp almost 10 during day, beautiful weather. Busy at work, still working from 9am to almost 2am in night. I have to take care of lots of stuff. I am working coming weekend full time too, may be over time..

I came back?? NO NO I am always here at least twice a day, I post here or not, I am always reading posts.

I am sure you guys will get the Visa soon.

the officer said to me that we have already sent u a letter in nov about the passport request, which i dint get.i told him that i dint get any of the information, letter by the high commision.
then he asked my correspondence address, i gave him that and he told that email me ur correspondence address or fax at high commssion.
and send ur passport at the earliest.

i said okk..., i am really excited taht i got my PPr after such a long wait......

hey guys , today i got my passport request by phone call.............yipeee............after long wait...............i got that.....just to confirm from u do we need to send prepaid fee also with the passport????

There you go yug...

1. Have your spouse fill out form, IMM5475

Tick the box that says "I authorize Citizenship and Immigration Canada... ... to release information from my case file to the following individual.”;
Have the spouse fill out his/her particulars (Questions 1 - 4);
He/She can fill out your particulars (Questions 5 and 6); and
He/She must sign AND date the form at the bottom (Question 7).

Have him/her scan and e-mail this form to you.

Upon receipt, you can sign and date the form as well.


2. You must fill out form, IMM5563
Section A
Ignore ‘Requester's reference number' field;
Enter your spouse's particulars in the next field (Family Name; Given name; DOB);
Tick the box that says “Consent included”;
Tick the box that says "Access to Information Act ($ 5.00 fee included)”;
Select which language you wish to receive your notes in, English or French; and
Select the form that you would like to receive your information in (CD, paper, or e-mail).

Section B
Tick the box that says “GCMS”;
For “Embassy” enter ‘CHC – New Delhi; for “Visa file number” enter the file number.
DO NOT check any other boxes in this section.

Section C
Select the method of payment. If paying by a credit card you must also fill out form, IMM 5667.

Section D
Fill out your particulars, sign and date the application at the bottom.


Once you have all the forms, you can either e-mail them to:
ATIP-AIPRP@cic.gc.ca

OR

Mail them to:
Access to Information and Privacy Division
Citizenship and Immigration Canada
Narono Building
360 Laurier Avenue West, 10th floor
Ottawa, Ontario
K1A 1L1

Looks like Shamsia got there already - thanks! I was going to post the same info (almost exactly) anyway. But to summarize (it is worded a bit more complicated than it should be):

IMM5475 should be filled out by the applicant and used to designate the sponsor (or any other Canadian citizen/PR) as able to view their information
IMM5563 should then be filled out by that person (likely sponsor) and used to request the GCMS notes for the applicant's file

Even though the sponsor is intimately involved in the application (and also the spouse in our cases), for legal privacy reasons CIC won't release anything to the sponsor about the processing done overseas - until these forms are filled out. What a crazy world!

Anyway, order the notes and see what the problem is with your file - and hopefully it can get sorted out ASAP!

One thing that's been bugging me for awhile here - can someone change the name of this thread? It's 2012 now... Can we just get rid of the 2010 bit? I don't want new people thinking this is just a discussion for old applications.

Congrats Nancy....Wow its been a year? that is crazy...you are the second person here who got the phone call to send in passport...afte they mailed you the letter in November..i have to wonder...if they just wanted your passport to issue your visa you would be wiht you partner now...ahhhhhhh
So i don't know about your case...but they haven't requested my husbands passport yet either...but borntowin told me that is either in the beggining or at the end of the review process they ask for the ppt...so yay for you...and inshallah you get your passport very soon now..

How do they do the background check and how it differs from normal background check?

is it with public works or another federal gov't dept? there is basic and enhanced reliability check. you can check the public works website for details www.pwgsc.gc.ca. basically its a full in depth check from your previous employers, to criminal check to verifying your date of birth, education (if its in india they will get an agency to check it down there)...basically everything under the sun. everyone needs to get this done if you are working with protected information/data and these are valid for 10 years (can't remember for sure)

its just relaibility status check for working with fed govt.
they only asked me my last 5 years of residential address
they never asked for work experience info, no education info . Only addresses for last 5 years where i have stayed was captured.

i dont know how they are going to do the educational, date of birth and work experience check.
