@ Brin.
You are absolutely fine Brin. You just need one police certificate. CHC-New Delhi only looks at one police clearance certificate in India and if you should submit where you are currently staying. They look at one police clearance certificate for each country,
I was referring to a loophole they have in the police clearance thing. When there was no movement on my file, I was thinking it's stuck due to background check and called my uncle, who is an IPS officer. He told me that ideally, for such an case you would need 2 police certficates as the databases are not connected. But to request 2 certficates is cumbersome, that's why they are good with one.
He also told me that the foreign high commisons don't send any criminal record check request to Police departments in India. A criminal list is maintained by External Affairs Ministry which is shared with external embassies as per some international accord.
I hope now you understand why I said that. You are good.

My husband has lived in diff states throught his school and college days in India...but when he went to get a PC, the police office had told him he doesn't have to travel to diff states and all he needs is a PC from where he resides currently!!! Pls tell me they were correct!!!
So far ND hasn't asked my husband for any new PC or anything...So..hoping it's ok!
That's a little insane though...It took abt a mnth and a half to get a PC from Chennai....if they want PC from diff states then he should have resigned his job and travelled around India collecting PC's!!!!
