If you order CAIPS and show proof of your interview date they will try and get them to you on time. You want them as you want to be prepared for why they are calling you for in person interview even after a phone interview. Something has triggered them not to be fully satisfied. I was able to get my husbands CAIPS and FOSS notes in a week and a half around the busiest time of year ( fiscal year end).

Ok...I just got off the phone with them

It's 613-946-0953 and $5 to oder CAIPS. The lady on the phone was very nice and told me it'll take abt a mnth, though I insisted I would like to get it before my interview..she didn't want to promise me anything? :

Anyway...yes..u can fax the req but u hv to mail them the pmnt(they take only chq or money order) ...I tried to push my luck asking if I could pay by credit card with the strike and all, so that they'll process my req soon...didn't work!

@ nylalisa...how did u manage to get it in a week and a half? Lucky u!

They usually need the CONSENT FORMS from both of you.....think you will send it and that's when they start.

CAIPS files can normally be obtained in 4-5 weeks. The Ottawa office in Canada is required to respond to CAIPS request within 30 working days. Please note that in rare circumstances the Ottawa office may take longer to process requests.

Below is a time frame for the processing of a Caips request;

On Day 1: We receive your request for the Caips file, the payment and consent form(s)
On Day 2: We mail your request to the processing office in Ottawa, Canada
On Day 4 or 6: The Citizenship and Immigration office in Ottawa receives your request and begins processing
On Day 25 or 34: The Citizenship and Immigration office completes the processing and mails us your file
On Day 27 or 37: We receive the Caips file and notify you

Based on current processing time frame; if all 3 steps are completed today the approximate date by which we will receive your file is between;
7/10/2011 - 7/20/2011 (Month/Date/Year). To track the status of your order, click here

Your are correct..!

One form needs to be filled by me and the other by my husband. They emailed me both the forms.
What they told me was that I can fax the forms and also attach a copy of the chq to show it's coming in the mail.
I'm going to get my husband to scan it after he fills the form ..send it to me...and I can fax it to ottawa with my form.

So finally after several sleepless nights and anxiety.. hubby received his pp with visa today

I am sure Nylalisa will reply soon as she convinced them to send it before her interview...stay tight and work on the Consent forms
Keep it handy there a few websites which does CAIPS and i think the one she used was fast...

My wife's passport is on its way to New Delhi.

Fingers crossed! They wanted it asap. I hope it is returned soon.

I hope so too.. and I'm sure they will stamp it as soon as they get it.. and withing two weeks you may actually have it back... my estimate says... They get your passport by Monday... then by after fathers day weekend you can see the result..

I do hope they don't take longer than that, or maybe even earlier than my prediction.

I forgot to mention, please ask your wife about the time of the call, also any special instructions they gave her, was it just the passport or did she have to write some sort of letter?

Also if you can ask her if the PHONE number had a CALLER ID or not, if it did please do share the first few digits

They only asked for the passport. But we sent a cover letter as well on our own. I will ask her about the details.

This has happened to applicants before..
They will call you from the ND phone number Telephone: 91 (11) 4178-2000
Once you say you don have a file number, they will confirm the details and give you your file #

Finally you send the PP with a cover letter like how i did...the only diff is i got the PPR in a email.
Procedure is same.

I am in great trouble here... I got a letter from ND alongwith my passport that my passport is unfit to travel and I should get a new passport... I have and old picture on the passport although its still valid for a long time.... i went to passport office today to apply for passport under tatkal scheme and they said that since my appearance has changed so i can't apply it under tatkal and i will have to apply it under normal procedure. So, i am in big trouble here because in normal procedure, passport office takes about one month for providing the passport. I have the following questions... please try to answer them:

1. for how long is the medical valid?
2. for how long is the PCC valid? My PCC was signed from SSP.
3. how much long validity does one need on passport?
