Quick question for clarification. These travels that occurred after submitting your application, were they after your interview (aug 2011)? As per your timeline looks like you submitted your passport in July 2011 so I am guessing you traveled to another country before July 2011 (?). Did you traveled anywhere before (not necessarily with your husband) and did you declare that? Plus the additional things, birthday celebrations insurance policies etc did they take place after your interview?
The travel will come up in your background check and if it took place before your interview they might question why it wasnt shared during the interview esp if the appendix C (i think its appendix C) form you submitted stated no travel history. BC check is what causes delays in processing as it takes the most time, and if you have traveled to another country than that just adds additional time to it as they have to verify info from that country too. BC could take a month to few months depending on the history.

I did travel to US with my husband prior to July 2011(these were declared). The additional things like birthday celebrations took place before my interview but after my submission of papers. Though I had carried these evidences to the interview, the officer did not even look at them. He had certain questions he was fixated on and post that he dismissed me. My husband did accompany me to the interview but the officer did not ask him any question and just asked him to wait outside.
As for other travels (before my marriage) yes i did declare them in my application ]
