It is quite weird that the application is still pending to be reviewed by the officer after almost an year. It is totally unfortunate on your side. Did you try getting CAPIS notes as well ? I would say go for the visitor visa and if they intend to deny, ask them what do they expect from a spouse after an year of PR application with no definite answer from CHC.

Any response from MP ? or the same answer?

Gwalayat- do u really think that i should give it a try? but my husband is saying that if every spouse will get visa like this then everyone will apply for visitor visa to meet their spouses..
so.....what to do now??

I would definitely give it a try.

I called up the call centre just a few minutes back since I was confused about the date that our file was transferred from Mississauga to ND.
Basically, we got an approval on October 28 and the agent at that time told me it was transferred on the same day. (the electronic version which consists of the permanent residence application packet). I called them up again a month after (Nov 28) and another agent told me that file was transferred on Nov. 22.

So I was very confused because I was trying to calculate the days in between every step of the whole process, and since we got a PPR on Dec. 5, I didn't know if I was suppose to count the time between file transfer and PPR as per Oct 28 or Nov 22.

This agent made me speak to his supervisor and he said that I should go by October 28. He says it works this way, once we get approval in Mississauga, our respective VO's are sent the electronic application right away. In our case, it was sent out on October 28, the day of the sponsorship approval itself. It was on Nov 22 that they received the mailed package with all the evidence, receipt of payment, police clearances, etc. He said that this particular info should not have been disclosed by the agent, but it's too late since he told me already.

So to sum it all up, he says that we received PPR after 39 days, not 14 days (when I counted it from Nov.22 to Dec.5)

And he also said that the 6 months of processing starts from the time our file reaches the VO, ND in our case, which means the probability of a visa is between October 28, 2011 - April 28, 2012.

Now that clarifies things for me!

@maple

That makes sense.

So it means that if the VO takes its own sweet time to issue a visa, they will keep the PP for 3-4 months or may be more. A person can't travel abroad then even if its an emergency. This is a crap. Holy Sh**. My wife might need to travel to the USA next month. This is going to chop up the entire travel plan then. It seems like a big crime has been committed by submitting a PR application.

@ Kuku

exactly! But what is clear to me is that, if, a case requires an interview, then they will definitely have the passport for 3-4 months since the average time to get an interview after PPR is about 1-2months.

If the case is crystal clear (now, ND might have a totally different interpretation of crystal clear, hahaha), then cases are finalized within 2 months of getting PPR.

So for you and me, hopefully, our spouses should get a visa, if not by end of december, early january.

Then again, we're dealing with ND..hahahahaha! So we'll never know for sure until we get something.

Being over optimistic, I will support your statement of "2 months after PPR" and will go with that. :D :D
Wifey got PPR on Nov 24 and PP delivered on 25th and yours is a week after ours. So I suppose, new year will bring us a good news if not Christmas. Btwn I will take my case as a crystal clear, if ND do not. ;) ;) ...

A que about calling ND office. I remember you saying the other day that your hubby called them up and got some response. This is not happening with my wife. the lady on phone does not give any damn information. She is not even ready to take file number and look in to the system. All she says is, you can email all your questions. >:( >:(

I made the call to ND, not the hubby. I just called to ask which address I should submit the passport at. I did not even try asking about our application since the people who pick up the phone are a bunch of snobs who don't deserve to be called "customer service" agents!

And not a week apart, yours and ours is exactly 11 days apart.

I really hope it'll be a nice X'mas/New Year's surprise :) :)

LOL..

I am not much hopeful about Christmas. But hopefully the month of Jan will bring some good news. Fingers crossed.
