I think this one is very difficult but I think it really depends on the miss information. If it is a minor incident you think would not cause any harm I think you should not because correcting it after the interview would raise a red flag. However, if you think it is a big issue please do write them to correct because you don't want to be punish for 5 years for misrepresentation. Now you can also see what other members have to say.

@ bbccanda,
Thanks for your response, the issues is this......I didn't remember to include deceased beside my dad's name at the time we filled the application and while in our marriage certificate deceased is included beside my dad's name. During the few minutes phone interview with my husband he was asked if my dad is dead or life , my hubby responded by saying he is dead. The officer pointed it out that in the application I didn't indicate deceased. My hubby referred the officer to check our marriage certificate that is included there.

Pardon my grammar English is not first language.

I'm scared if this will cause any problem ........this month complete one year of file our application.

Please any further advice will be great.

I don't think this will be a problem. It doesn't seem like the error was intended to mislead CIC and your husband did well by pointing out the right information. Also it wasn't about your relationship or personal history of your husband or yourself so I really don't think it should be a problem. If you email them, it wouldn't seem suspicious as well but I really don't think there is any need to. By the way, was the phone interview scheduled by CIC or did they randomly call your husband. I assume your husband is the principal applicant.

Hey guys after sending the additional document...we received a refusal letter today...please how do we appeal? I guess the application was refused bc they received the additional document 1 day past the 30days deadline :( we are confused and need urgent help cuz they gave us another 30days to appeal

So sorry bout your situation. I think you should first order your gcms notes to see the exact reason for refusal. If it was because you submitted your additional docs late then you might need to reapply instead of appealing to prevent loosing at the appeal. An appeal is successful if the VO ignored all the concrete evidence you provided and went ahead to refuse you. If you also feel like there are other things you can add to your application that you previously didn't because you didn't have enough advice, put your application together and reapply. I believe it might even be a shorter process than appealing if you also write a strong letter explaining the whole situation. That is what I think.

@ugowife,

Thanks for your reply,
Yes my husband is the principal applicant.
The phone interview wasn't schedule, they just call him randomly

They asked him three or four questions.

First question: when last did I came to Nigeria to see him

Second question: if he know my family members

Third question: my father name

Fourth question : is my father dead or life.

Thanks for your time.

I am so sorry to read about this negative outcome. Was it a spousal application or conjugal/common law application. If that is the sole reason ( late document submission) I agree with Ugoswife. However please ensure that this is the sole reason before appealing the decision. Did you ever order your GCMS notes? If so, how recent are they? If you decide to order notes, sadly it takes 30 days to receive them. It is a fact that re applying is much quicker than appealing. But ensure the primary reason of refusal. I wish you and your partner all the best.

@praise, Don't worry at all about this cos my first application before we were told to reapply we had the same issue on the marriage certificate. On the application I put that my father deceased and on the marriage certificate we put his name and his profession when he was alive then the officer asked why we put his profession and my wife clarify with her and that wasn't the reason we were told to reapply. They would never had called you on the phone if it was something serious. So relax the officer is processing your application and just need clarification believe me.

Please any further advice will be great.

@Nehemiah, I am really sorry and I know how you feel. Honestly, I was shocked myself but please let us know exactly the reason why you were refused so we can throw more light on the situation. Please take it easy because I have gone through a situation like yours which I thought was the end of the world but we corrected things and reapply so don't get discourage.

Wow, it's really sad. This kind of news after 10 months of waiting. I suggested you take some days to review and access the situation before taken any decision. It is well, Our heavenly Father will see you through.

I just went back to check your story and see you submitted far more prove of relationship than I did and still got this sad news today. Now I'm really worried. The only thing I have is that I was married and had my daughter long before I came to Canada and became PR so I don't see how they can say our marriage is to gain access to Canada, I think! What are your thoughts guys? Cos I'm really really worried now.

@Butterflygirl, don't you think you can use the condition you are in at the moment by writing the Accra Office with some photo evidence with the crutch you are using to get their attention to get your husband here if not right away but at least after the interview. Even if they don't reply you during the interview thye will discuss that with your husband as I can remember one of my friend sponsor her husband and she wrote the Accra office when she was sick. She explained how she really needs her husband to help her get well and during the interview his passport expires very soon but the officer ask him if he can leave in 10 day since the wife is sick he said yes and they issued him a visa right away.

Hello, This is now an extended time off until April 1st. I had to go back to doctor's to get a go ahead, since it happened at work and is a WC case. The doctor said I'm not able to return back to work, since I'm on my feet all day. He wants me to heal completely before I'm allowed back. It's just a sprained ankle, and I don't think immigration will speed anything up. My husbands interview is May, so am sure I will be good before than, but I will get my husband to give it a try, he can email them. Let's hope something good comes out of it.

Awww xls: I don't think you need to be creating scenarios and worrying yourself. Please worrying will not add anything positive to your life this process is stressful enough. Pls remember that we shouldn't try to align each other cases with one another due to the fact that each file, couple and circumstance is different. The refusal could of been due to the missed deadline for the additional document request for our friend.

I know that once you fail to meet the deadline (for additional document or any request) the immigration officer has no choice but to grant a decision on your file based on what they have in front of them. If the application lacks substance without the document in question, it wud not be approved. Sure we should be mindful on what we submitted and ensure we provide the essential materials/documents needed for processing are present. Have faith in yourself and in your file/story and that you have done your best and expect a positive report. if AVO needs something from you they wud contact you and do ur best to follow instructions completely thats all. Try to take it easy okay. There is a lesson to be learned from each other experiences. That why we here to share :)

Hi guys!

How long does it usually take for Accra to send pick up email once they receive your passport? They got my husband's passport on March 8th, and we have not heard from them yet.

Thank you!

@boatswife, I am glad you mentioned the reapply option in your post. Now she has 30 day to appeal and gcms note also arrives in 30 or more days so don't you think appealing if the refusal is due to deadline she missed a waste of time? I think if the refusal letter indicates she was refused due to the deadline then it is better to gather some strong evidence and reapply instead of going through the appeal process that can take up to 2 years. What do you guys think
