And in just less than half a day!. Some other threads are quite silent. How I wish applications' thread get this number of pages in a day by applicants shouting with joy that they have gotten MR or PPR..

So how many people who've read it/reading this thread intend to remain in Canada permanently, as in, actually live and work here, barring unexpected visits abroad?
How many are getting their PRs, but really intend to be here just to fill the minimum residency obligations, and enjoy the benefits of free healthcare?

Remember, you're anonymous. So, be honest.

I personally believe it’s hard to say “yes” or “no”.
I know a person who is moving back to his home country nearly after living here in Canada for 17+ years, that is because of his family obligations etc.
Can someone guarantee his/her “job” here in Canada ???. I know people migrate in search of good jobs and better life style. so bottom lins is it depends.

Yes, everybody please be honest. You and your IP address will remain totally anonymous :) Do you really think anyone will tell you his true intention?
I wish those who don't intend to live in Canada will stop applying for PR at all, will definitely help the processing times and reduce the immigration scrutiny for citizenship applications.

Well, that's totally legitimate reason to go back. My issue is with people who know BEFORE they get approval that they will likely not live here. That to me is the unethical applicant, applying in bad faith. On the other hand, if you get your PR thinking you'll settle in Canada permanently, but then get offered a job that pays 10 times as much in Hong Kong, well, it is totally acceptable (ethically and otherwise) for you to consider moving there.

Umm, just to let you know it's not anonymous, you can easily figure out people's identity online. Not that I care or anything, but just letting you know that you shouldn't tell people to go ahead and post anything because no one can figure out who they are. And this is the largest forum online for immigration in Canada, do you not think that CIC knows about it? They can easily link you to your file if they really wanted to.

I Agree to original poster.

Too many people have no intention of living in Canada, but yet they go through the whole process and acquire PR+citizenship, only to move back to their original country.

Because you see, they have properties, friends, families - back home. And a lot of them don't want to start over in a new country.

So why did they apply for PR? Ummmm Yah we know why. Because of the benefits that they will receive + the kids will become citizens and have a better life (hopefully) - That's why they gain PR.

Argue whatever you want, but it's the truth. And it's not right to the people who actually want to stay in Canada permanently.

Wow
You had to be That Person to stir it all up again.

Your opinion, and everyone else's here, is entirely personal. And you are absolutely entitled to one.
However as previously pointed out, this thread adds zero value to the purpose of this forum::: to share advice and experiences when applying through CEC. This is no offense to anyone posting on this thread but arguments have broken out - people don't even know each other - this is the Internet! So I'm really hoping no more effort goes into this thread and that we can all continue helping and supporting each other in the wonderful way I've come to love about this forum.

Please, everyone, can this thread end here?

I disagree as do others that the original thread has "zero value". This is quite simple people, if you don't like the topic of a thread, don't post. People need to stop trying to impose their own views regarding conversations on everyone else.
