If your new study start date is within 150 days of your original start date, you are not obligated to inform IRCC. However, I would advise you do so that your Visa is stamped according to your updated dates.

Medical passed: July 8 and 21, 2022
Eligibility Review: Augus 22, 2022
BVL: August 22, 2022
PPR: August 22, 2022

In our case, eligibility, BVL and PPR all happened at once on the same day.

Took 111 days / 16 weeks for my family. Already deferred to January but it's good so we'll have time to prepare and get cheaper airfare.

When can I expect a decision?

If your biometrics were completed on June, you could expect a decision around 12 weeks after that date. It could take shorter or longer.

I would advise you to know the rules regarding deferrals with your learning institution (some have deadlines, some only allow you to defer once, etc).

No way of knowing for sure. Processing time is around 12 weeks but it could be less or more. The only thing you can do is to submit a webform once your application has exceeded normal processing times. Not much else to do unfortunately...
