No not yet. I am doing it parallaly. I will file for FSW and wait for AB nomination. Once I receive the AB nomination and probably based on the status I will withdraw FSW. Since Buffalo office asked for all the documents to be submitted along with the application, just making sure I have all the documents before I submit my application. By the way I have a question, did you got your experience certificates notorized ?

I see. From what I know from a friend who submitted FSW in Buffalo, they have notarized all the documents they sent.

Hello Everybody I've reading your post about the Strategic Recruitmen stream via H1B, and there's one thing I don't get. To help you understand better my case, I have a bachelors degree in Psychology. I've been in the USA with an H1B1 visa, working for more than a year as a community social service; my NOC is 4212 (Social Community worker). And I'm from Mexico, so I dont need a LMO (Labor Market Opinion) 'cause I'm under NAFTA.
Please allow me to review what I know:

1.- This program is a 2 steps process. One with Alberta and one with the CIC.
2.-Step Number one is the Pre-Assesment that takes about a month or two to get a response.
3.-Once Pre-Aproved you'll get an envelope known as the "brown package" where they tell you you qualify and you are invited to apply for the program. Then begins step number two.
4.-When you apply, they will inform you they received the application and it would take them about 2 more months to respond.
5.-If you get your PNP Certificate at this point, then you have to apply now for the PR (Permanent Residence) to the CIC.

NOW, this is where my questions arise.
a) Does the PNP serve the function of a work permit for six months or for any time???
b)If it does, are you required to move to Alberta in this part of the process??? and is there a requirement of time to do so(lets say in two months or sooner)???.
b)At this point, are you allowed to live or work even temporarily in Alberta???? If you aren't then;
c)Can you go to Alberta to start looking for a job, and in wich circunstances (like going as a tourist)???

Resuming back to the process:
6.-Six Months later if you qualify, you may get your PR from CIC and then... happily ever after (hahaha).
OR
6.-You have to wait till the CIC comes back to you with a work permit (even if you don't have a job offer) to go to Alberta and look for a job.
OR
6.-No work permit (because you dont have a job offer), and you have to wait another six months untill your PR is approved before you can even start looking for a job inside Alberta.
One more question, If you get a job offer during any part of the process, what effect does that have???
Thanks in advance for your time and your responses.
Kindly get back to me about this matter.

"6.-You have to wait till the CIC comes back to you with a work permit (even if you don't have a job offer) to go to Alberta and look for a job."

is the right answer.

If you have a job offer you obviously have two choices:

1) Temporary work permit.
2) Provincial Nomination(Regular process to any province not just Alberta).

But if you have a job offer in the middle of the new scheme, you may not need to show any proof of funds. I don't know if it would make any other difference.

For temporary workers/PNP nominated candidates..... in addition to job offer you'll need LMO and employment contract. This info is according to email sent from PNP office after applying for H1B SRS program.

"In addition, if you would like to start working in Alberta prior to receiving landed immigrant status, you may consider coming to work as a Temporary Foreign Worker"

"After you have a job offer from an Alberta employer, the employer should forward you a copy of the Service Canada LMO and the employment contract and inform you to apply for a work permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC)."

Hi, first thank you both for replying. Now Ingegarcia, I think because Im under NAFTA I dont need a labor market opinion, and i dont know about the employment contract. Although I dont know if this apply to the AINP, Im sure it works for a regular work permit.

Working temporarily in Canada: Jobs that require a work permit but no labour market opinion
People in the following categories need a work permit but do not need a labour market opinion from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC).

Workers covered under international agreements
Professionals, traders, investors and business people coming to Canada to work under certain international agreements.
SOURCE:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-permit.asp

Working temporarily in Canada: Special categories—Business people
Business people include certain people entering Canada under the following free trade agreements:

North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
Canada–Chile Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA)
General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS)

North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)
Under Chapter 16 of NAFTA, citizens of Canada, the United States and Mexico can gain quicker, easier temporary entry into the three countries to conduct business or investment activities.
Business people covered by NAFTA do not need a labour market opinion from Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC). This means that Canadian employers do not need to have a job offer approved by HRSDC to employ a United States or a Mexican business person, as set out in NAFTA.

A professional must:

be qualified to work in one of the more than 60 professions listed in Appendix 1603.D.1 of Chapter 16 of NAFTA (for example, accountant, computer systems analyst, engineer, management consultant and technical publications writer) and
have pre-arranged employment with a Canadian enterprise in an occupation
VIEW THIS INFORMATION ON ITS ORIGINAL SOURCE AT:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/special-business.asp#nafta

For a complete list of professions visit:
http://portal.sre.gob.mx/canada/index.php?option=displaypage&Itemid=227&op=page&SubMenu

Now I repeat, i dont know how this apply to the AINP under the strategic recruitment stream.

But it does look like you need to do a separate process to work or even look for work inside Canada or you will have to wait till the whole PR is issued. Thanks for clearing that for me!!.

Hi Flori, yes under NAFTA you do not need LMO... lucky you!! :))

To apply under H1B SRS program download the form from http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/campaigns/h1b.html
... fill it up and send it via fax or email then they'll request the documents below... Once pre-assessment done then you'll get AINP forms to apply to AINP... and once you get provincial nomination you can pply to the next step which is Citizenship and Immigration Canada

# A photocopy of your passport
# A photocopy of your H1B visa
# Proof of your qualification for H1B (eg. education degree/diploma, license, certification, etc)
# Proof of your current employment (and job description) and how it applies to the Regional Occupations Under Pressure List in Alberta (please consult the list for occupations and National Occupation Classification (NOC) number http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/abouplist.shtml)

Hi akk
Once Alberta approve pre-assessment they'll send you forms/instructions to apply for AINP. It is at this point that you send visa/passport information for your spouse/dependents... Also later on once you get the provincial nominee and you apply for PR you'll need to submit birth/marriage certificate for spouse/dependents..
