Hi ,
My status in Canada is that I have Permanent Residency.
I am going to India to get married.
So wanted to know apart from the forms mentioned on cic website, what other supporting documents are required and what is the normal timeline of getting the Spouse PR. And will he get open work permit automatically?

It's whatever is on the website for your country specifically

There are spreadsheets for last year that will give you a estimate. India Outland isn't usually that long I'd say about 3-7 months but don't quote me.

No work permit for Outland... The get to work when they come here

I recently applied for spouse PR. Please see below all the required documents :

1. All Forms listed on CIC Website (make sure you use the latest forms as they change frequently)
2. Marriage Certificate
3. Lots of Pictures (Marriage, ceremonies, honeymoon, outing, etc)
4. Chats, Call history, email conversation, social media status, etc)

I believe most important is the Marriage certificates and photographs, rest you can arrange by yourself when back to Canada. When applying for an Outland Sponsorship, I don't think your spouse is eligible for Work Permit. The normal processing time as per CIC is 1 year, but people have received within 3-4 months. Our process is already 6 months and waiting. There is a myth, not sure if it is true but if your file is transferred to New Delhi Visa Office, then it takes a little longer time to process. Our file was transferred to NDVO in October 2019 and we haven't heard anything since then.

Wish you all the best for your wedding and your application.

I am in India. Any way I can call IRCC from here to get info on my application? Extensive research on the forum gave me these two numbers 1.888.242.2100 and 1.613.944.4000. The toll free number I just can not get connected and the other number is specifically saying that we do not provide information on IRCC applications. Anyone please help.
Is there any way my relative in Canada can call the toll free number on my behalf or just pretend to be me?
