Spouse sponsorhip - Red flag? OWP when?

Hello,
It's been 3 months since I met my girlfriend, she's a permanent resident, and we want to live together, but my WHV finishes on September, so we have decided to marry.

The problem is that there is a point that says that she has to provide me financial support, but she is not working at this moment because she is still studing at university. And also they don't specify what does it means, and they say there's no minimum incomce.

Her family has a lot of money, that would be enough? But we don't want to use them.

Right now I have a full-time job, and my salary is 40K/year before taxes. They would not count this?

And if she works part-time, that would be enough?

And also, if we get married I will be able to work before getting a PR Card, won't I? In around 5-6 months after marrying?

I also have savings. Around 20000 canadian dollars

Thank you!

EDIT:

We have been together almost everyday since we met in January (we don't live together but we have seen each other almost everyday). And we can prove that. Isn't that enough, really?

EDIT 2:

I'm not interested in PR Card, I want to marry her and be able to work with that Work Permit until she gets canadian citizenship.

Also, if we marry in may-june it would be 4-5 months.

Also, she is from Iran, so it's a fact that we can not stay as boyfriend/girlfriend because of her culture. We can use this as an argument?

PS: What I still can not understand is how non genuine couples get married and get PR Card, and with my relationship that is genuine it seems that difficult

Re: What does financial support exactly means?

what VO would wanna know is how you would be supported while you are waiting for your pr (if you are not working)

1. your gf is student and seems like you have to quit your job when your WHV is expired.
so how you would support you and your future wife in Canada?
:her parents would support both of you, you would have enough saving for both ??

you or your gf should present enough fund/ proof about financial support

2. you can submit your saving account , a letter from her parents to support both of you (if they are willing to )

3. she can also have part time job and tell she would bring some income to support you (if she wants)

beside financial support, you may have some red flag
: short length of relationship and getting married around time your visa is expired ...

We want to be together, and also we want to marry because apart from loving each other that's the way of being together.

Also, I have savings, around 20000 canadian dollars. That wouldn't be enough?
If we get married, in around 5-6 months they give me work permit, don't they? If we marry in April-May, then it would be around when my visa finishes so I could continue working in my actual company

And also, 3-4 months of relationship is not enough? I've heard a lot of people get married only for getting visa, so they are not even together.

Thank you!

Re: What does financial support exactly means?

I cannot say what is minimum length of relationship.
every relationship is different.

mithlorin : you may wanna ask your work for LMIA, then you can apply for work permit.

assume you plan to apply for inland and owp, seems like you have all planed out for your work permit etc.

That maybe concern red flag to VO. (married- applied for owp and inland app- received owp around time whv is expired: so you can continue to stay and work in Canada ) plus short length of relationship.

you may wanna search for similar cases on the forum .

Good luck

Hello,
We have a real relationship so we could show them pictures or conversations or whatever necessary
Also, our family know about our relationship

Even with that it would be red flag?

Also, the OWP you receive it after 4-6 months inland? because on website it says 18months now.

Yes, your short relationship is a big red flag. Even what you've said in this thread makes it seem you really just want the work permit and to stay in Canada.

Quite frankly no, it's not enough. You should expect a very long processing time, an interview, and quite possibly an eventual refusal. It's pretty obvious if it wasn't for your status soon running out in Canada, you probably wouldn't even be discussing marriage at this point.

You should establish a longer relationship first (around 1 year), and then do a proper marriage. May seem like more time now, but the eventual processing of your PR app will be much quicker and easier the more "normal" it looks.

We have always talked about marriage.

Are you sure they won't let us do this? We love each other, and we want to marry. And because we love each other is good to be together here.

Even my family will come here to Canada from Spain for the wedding

We don't want to have a long distant relationship. We love each other and we want to be together for all our life

It's only been 3 months since you met her. CIC will be very suspicious this is a marriage of convenience, and they may not believe your story. You will have an easier time with your app if you wait longer and spend more time in the relationship before getting married. But the choice is up to you.

Can't we provide them WhatsApp conversations and pictures for letting them know that our marriage is genuine?

We have them, and a lot of calls made to each other

Yes you can. But as Rob said, you are going to be getting married only a few months after meeting her, and they will also see that your work visa was running out/ soon to run out when you married and sent off the application so it will look very suspicious to them, no real two ways about it.

Hi Mithlorin,

I believe what others interpreted is that CIC also considers the length of the relationship. In that case, no matter what how much evidence you provide to them, they still put a question mark in your situation since your relationship has only been 3 months.

3 months is very short. Don't underestimate how difficult it is to get PR visa under those circumstances. Better to get married about a year into your relationship, then apply, rather than apply now and wait for interview, refusal, appeal, etc. The latter will likely make you wait 2+ years, the former will likely get the PR visa in under a year, which would you rather choose?
